Y/N POV

We walked through the doors into the hybrid section and my eyes immediately started scanning through the rooms. The rooms lined the walls of the large space, the fronts of the rooms were glass, enabling us to see inside, and the hybrids to see us.

As soon as we started walking through, I noticed a lot of the hybrids getting up from where they were sitting or eating, coming up to the glass to see us. The layout was similar to before - first up was the rabbits and hamsters. Most of them ran up to the glass and tried to talk to us, saying hello, asking our names, if we were going to adopt them.

They were awfully cute, and I thought that I might actually have a harder time in the hybrid section than I did in the animal section. Lisa and I walked around and looked into a few of the rooms.

I noticed that some of the rooms were a bit smaller and had less hybrids in them, only 3-5 occupying them.

"Why are these hybrids separate?" I asked Michelle, referring to the few rooms I could see like this.

"These hybrids are in their own rooms because they are packs," she explained. "They're like a family, they don't mind mingling with others but they really need their own space. Packs must always be adopted together, they can't be separated"

I nodded at her explanation, and drew my attention back to where Lisa was looking. She was scanning through the dog hybrids as they all came up to the glass to try and win her over with their cuteness.

"Would you like to go in and meet them?" Michelle offeredd.

"Yes please!"

And with that, Lisa was lost to the dog hybrids, attacked with kisses and smothered with love. This room was for females, so she was getting a lot of love from the excited girls.

"Ladies! Ladies! Calm down!" Michelle tried to ease them.

I giggled at the sight and continued on. A dog would probably not be a good idea for me, they looked like they loved attention and time with their person, and I wasn't sure I could give them that.

My curiosity nudged me to have a look at the smaller rooms. Maybe a pack would be better? That way they had each other during the day, they wouldn't be all alone waiting for me to get home from work. Could I afford to feed and clothe more than 1 hybrid though?
Probably - just would have to cut back on the impulse spending.

I had a look at some of the rooms, a lot of the hybrids inside came straight up to the glass and tried to talk to me.

"Hi there!"

"Are you adopting us?"

"We are very good!"

I quickly became overwhelmed and once again started to feel bad that most of these guys would be left here. I couldn't adopt them all.

Or could I?

No Y/N! Bad!

I came up to the last room in the hybrid section and had a quick peek through the glass. It was fairly quiet. I looked in and saw 2 hybrids. One of them was in human form sitting cross legged on the bed, and the other in animal form in his lap. The human suddenly noticed me and whipped his head up to meet my gaze.

I felt a bit intimidated by his intense stare, before it suddenly became much more relaxed and slowly a hopeful smile made its way onto his face. I couldn't help but stare at his heart shaped lips. The orange cat on his lap must have sensed movement because he too lifted his tiny head up to look at me.

I couldn't help but gush at the sight, and the man slowly stood up, holding the cat tight to his chest as he did. I noticed he had pointy reddish-brown ears amongst his brown hair, and a big bushy tail of the same colour, maybe a fox?

"Hi" he said with a hopeful smile.

"Hi." Wow, Y/N, good job. Hi? Really? That's the best you could do?

"Are you adopting today?" even his voice sounded hopeful and it crushed my heart.

"Maybe" I started. "I was just meant to be looking around with my friend but..." I was looking back to where I left her, with the over excited puppies.

"Do you want to adopt a pack? Sometimes people are scared of us but I promise we are very good!" I looked back over at him as he spoke. The cat in his arms was now looking at me, with hopeful eyes as well. Damn this is going to be hard.

"I promise!" he continued. "The 3 of us are very well behaved and you can leave us at home while you work, you wouldn't even have to worry!" his voice was getting more and more excited, more pleading, and I could start to hear the tiniest bit of desperation.

Wait a minute... 3 of us?

"The 3 of you?" I questioned, looking at him and the cat, then trying to scan the room for the supposed 3rd hybrid, but failed to see any other sign of life.

The hybrid in front of me widened his eyes in surprise a little, almost as if he told me something he shouldn't.

"O-oh. Yeah, um. The other one..." he trailed off. "He doesn't - um he, he's a bit shy.."

He sounded very suspicious and was avoiding my gaze a little.

"But I promise he's good too! We would be the best hybrids for you!"

I sighed a little. He did seem very sweet. And the cat that had been in his arms the whole time seemed very calm. Maybe they would be alright at my house? They would certainly be able to keep eachother company. I was just curious about the third member of their pack.

"What's your name?" I finally realised I had forgotten to ask, and his smile grew impossibly wide.

"It's Hoseok, but everyone calls me Hobi!" he could almost pass for a dog with the way his tail was happily wiggling behind him.

"And this is Jimin" he pulled the cat away from his chest and lifted him to the glass towards me. The cat was completely limp in his hands and just stared at me - I gave him a small wave.

I was about to speak but Michelle beat me to it.

"How's everything going over here?" she smiled, seeming pleased that we were interacting.

"It's going good!" I answered quickly, "I'm just having a chat with these lovely guys."

She turned and smiled fondly at Hobi and Jimin.

"These guys are very sweet, I really want them to go to a good home" she said as started pulling out her keys. "Did you want to go in and meet properly?"

I looked at her slightly surprised, it felt a bit wrong just going into their room. They were a pack and this was their space, and a complete stranger was just going to walk in there to say hi? I looked over at Hobi to gauge his reaction but he seemed very happy with the idea.

"S-sure, okay" I sounded so unsure, but it was because I knew I was getting sucked in. I knew the more time I spent around these hybrids, the more difficult it was going to be to walk away.

She unlocked the glass door and left it open, ushering me in.

"I'll just be out here" and she left us alone.

I suddenly became very awkward and had no idea what to do or say. The other hybrid must be very small because I couldn't spot him anywhere.

"What's your name?" I realised I forgot to tell him my name.

"It's Y/N" I replied.

"Y/N" he tested, smiling brightly after deciding he liked that name.
