((Y/n)'s POV)
I heard a knock on the door. My mom and I were sitting on the couch. "She's here" I stood up but before opening the door I turned to my mom. "I love you mom, but please don't embarrass me"
She mocked being offended. "How could I possibly embarrass my child"
I giggled at her dramatics. "Just please don't show her my baby pictures or something"
"Aw, but you were such a cute baby" I shot her a glare before bursting out in giggles. I then ran to the door before opening it.
"Hi, Marcy, ready for an awesome day?"
She smiled brightly. "You know it" I pulled her inside.
"Come on, I went out and got everything for cookies like promised" I dragged her to the kitchen. "So I have most of the ingredients out already but I still have a few to get from the pantry. I'll be right back" I smile and walk away as I saw Marcy looking around the kitchen.
This was Marcy's first time coming over to my house, she was also the first of my friends to meet my mom. I grabbed the bag of flowers and the one of sugar and the backing soda before walking back to set them on the kitchen counter.
"And here they are when they were five" I looked to see my mom standing next to Marcy both looking at mom's phone.
Marcy was smiling brightly. "Aww they are so cute" I blushed out of embarrassment.
"Mom!! That's embarrassing"
She smirked. "I know, but I love you so it makes it okay" she smiled. My face got redder if that was even possible.
She came up and side-hugged me. "Okay sweetie, I won't embarrass you anymore, have fun making cookies" she kissed the top of my head before walking back into the living room.
"So uhh yeah that's my mom"
"She's really nice, and you were a cute baby"
I groaned. "How about we just make cookies?" Marcy giggled "I'm glad you're enjoying my embarrassment"
Marcy and I got started mixing ingredients, I let Marcy do most of the measuring and mixing, and the smile on her face as she was laser-focused on the task at hand, made the mess she was making forgettable.
Marcy was also listing of facts about the ingredients and what they contribute to the cookies.
"Hey (Y/n) you want to know something cool?" Marcy asked as she was mixing the bowl on the counter.
"Always" I answered as I was washing out the messing cups for their next use.
"The original recipe for, chocolate chip cookies, was created in the late 1930s by Ruth Wakefield. She ran the Toll House restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts. The first delicious mix of crispy cookie and melted chocolate chunks, appeared in her 1938 cookbook called 'Tried and True,' and was intended to accompany ice cream" she told me as she started making the cookie dough into little balls and then placing them on the tray.
I paused and looked at her and she had a little sinister smile on her face. "Is this your way of saying we should have ice cream with the cookies"
"Possibly"
I walked over to the fridge after setting the measuring cups on the drying rack. I opened the freezer and saw we didn't have any ice cream. "Sorry, Marce we don't have any here, if you really want some there is a little shop about a block or two away from here" Her eyes lit up when I said that. She smiled brightly and nodded, I smiled at her excitement. "I'll take that as a yes then"
