part three

"This is absolutely ridiculous," Daphne huffs quietly as they hide behind a trailer, staking out their new ride. "I mean, seriously, this is not—"

Eddie holds a hand up to silence Daphne, his face covered by a ridiculous Michael Myres mask that Max had stuffed away from a Halloween.

"Seriously? You wanna keep a low profile?" Daphne shakes her head as she whispered, "You're wearing a fricken Halloween mask!"

"Shut up before you get us caught!" Max hissed from the back, Daphne huffing but closing her mouth tightly as Eddie checks around the front and motions the group to follow.

"Do you ever have nothing to say?" Steve scolded as he crept behind her, her face contorting at him in a mocking fashion as he fights a growing smirk at the girl.

The group start a slow jog as Eddie confirms the coast is clear, weaving their way between trailers, bushes and  garden furniture before Eddie finally reaches the motor home they're about to steal. Or borrow, as Daphne keeps reminding herself.

Daphne's head is spiralling, along with her heart pounding at the thought of this. The amount of trouble she would be in if she is found to be pulling Dustin into this is phenomenal. Her mom would definitely take her car keys from her.

"Oh God, oh God," Daphne jumps on the spot with anxiety as Eddie pats the windows to double check no one is inside, finally sliding open the window at the front and jumping in.

Steve gives Daphne a sarcastic smile before pulling himself up, Daphne ushering the rest in and checking around her until it's her turn.

"Fuck it," She mumbles to herself, pulling herself into the window and landing on the other side with a thud, Dustin smirking at her as she lands holding a hand out for her. "You are loving every minute of this, aren't you?" She smirks as she puffs a bit of hair out of her face, taking his hand and standing up.

"Real life D&D game? Oh yeah," He shrugs, "End of the world? Not so much."

"That's fair." Daphne's mouth tugs downwards as she nods in agreement.

Daphne follows Steve to the front, where Eddie is expertly hot wiring the car.

"Dude, where did you learn how to do that?" Daphne awes at him, perched over Steve's shoulder where she rests her head. Steve double takes at her impressed expression and lets out a soft chuckle.

"Well, when the other dads were teaching their kids how to fish or play ball, my old man, was teaching me how to hotwire." He breathes through concentrated breaths, tugging at Daphne's heart strings as she watched. "Now, I swore to myself I wouldn't wind up like he did." He shakes his head. "But now? I'm wanted for murder and soon grand theft auto. So, I'm really living up to the Munson name." He smirks.

"Shit dad crew? I hear you, man," Daphne mumbled, feeling uncomfortable as soon as she said it. Discussing her dad was not something Daphne liked to do. But it didn't go unnoticed by Eddie or Steve, who both gave Daphne small glances. Steve couldn't help but wonder what she meant by that. All Steve knew by Dustin is that his dad isn't around. He was oblivious to why or how. "But hey, I can guarantee you're nothing like your old man. They leave their mark and you grow to wanna be nothing like them. You're saving the world, man."
