And I wanted you to know, what I told you, while we fought for our lives and questioned if we would make it out alive... it was all true, every single word.

It was a very bizarre atmosphere, as the party entered Eddie's trailer. She could sense the blonde glance at her solemnly before turning back towards Steve - who, as far as she knew, was the only other person aware of their situation. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the babysitter put a comforting hand on her shoulder, his stare full of pity. It almost brought Nancy to tears but instead she told herself to 'get it together'. In absolute silence, they each climbed up the flimsy rope, stained with dirt and blood, first Steve, then Nance,Robin,Dustin and finally Eddie. As they said their goodbyes, the group split into two.
While Nancy, Robin and Steve wove their way through the maze of slimy vines, the boy attempted to make casual conversation but was quickly shut down by the awkwardness, neither of the other girls responding to what he was saying- apart from a little "yeah" or quiet "I guess" here and there.
Soon the trio approached the Creel House, it looming over them threateningly , seeming to almost dare them to enter as random flashes of lightning lit up the the burning sky. Hesitantly, they walked towards the battered door. Even without uttering a word, there was an unspoken understanding that this could be it, the final battle, they could be defeated and left to rot in this hell-hole. Stumbling ahead, Steve left the others behind.
Maybe it was the impending doom or maybe it was the guilt, Nancy would never know what exactly possessed her to grab her friends hand. However, she clearly understood now, she couldn't let it end like this - a broken relationship.

"Robin, I just wanted to say... sorry about yesterday. That was a really horrible thing to do and I think, really, it was because... I am like you. And maybe, I don't know, I like you, romantically."

There was a pause, Robin still had her eyes fixed on the floor. For a second, she thought she felt Robin squeeze her hand back but, before she could properly realise, the girl pulled away and began clumsily dodging the slithering vines spread across the floor, causing Nancy to assume she had imagined it. After taking a deep breath, she regained a steady grip on her weapon and followed them.
