ACT XXVIII: THE LAST STEP

I opened my eyes, the sun hitting them at full force as the brightness adjusted. I was scared, I sat up, sharply inhaling and clutching my burning chest. I looked around, it was a beautiful place, it was a clearing with a forest nearby, and I heard laughing and chatter. I walked towards the noise, and watched through the bushes as I saw Red Son laughing with Mei's arm around them. The three monkeys were talking and everyone was enjoying their time. Sandy was telling some kind of story as held Huntsman's hand.

They all looked so happy. Even Pigsy and Tang were hugging close. Nezha stood and said, "y/n is here." And he looked at the direction you were hiding. The ones at the fireplace went silent and followed his gaze. You left the bush and gave an awkward smile with a half-wave. Red jumped up and hugged you tightly. Then Sandy, then Mei, then Huntsman and soon you were all hugging. Red was scolding you, telling you not to do this stupid crap again while also crying saying they thought she lost you.

You all parted and smiled, they forgave you. They truly forgive you. Your smile was genuine and real, much like the one you had when you thought you died. You took Huntsman's hand and pulled something out of your pocket and planted it in his palm, closing it. You gave him a wink as he opened his hand and saw the tea bag Sandy gave him. He left it at the cave, not being able to have brought it. So you saved it for him. It meant so much to him and he actually thanked you.

Then you gave Red and Mei the talk, not THAT one the whole 'if you date my kid this is what you CANNOT do:' talk. Red matched his hair that was now aflame with embarrassment and Mei laughed. You trusted her, she was a good kid. You looked down at their hands, smiling softly seeing their hands intertwined. "You might also have to give MK that talk y/n." Mei said. You looked up and said, "you're also dating MK?" Red looked away as if he was going to get shamed but you only said, "I get to embarrass you in front of your girlfriend AND your boyfriend?! SCOREE!!" and you pumped your fist.

Red had returned to her previous embarrassment and just groaned at you. Mei cackled evilly telling you more ways you could embarrass him. He only sat and jokingly cried in a corner whilst you both looked like fairytale villains with all the cackling and smirking. The laughter died down and you looked out into the city, enjoying this blissful moment. You went to Red and said, "Look, kid, I have to go, I need to go to my brothers. You don't know them but I missed them, so I'll be back okay?"

They nodded and MK popped out from behind you and said "who are your brothers y/n?" you smiled proudly and said, "the best demons out there, Yin and Jin." his jaw dropped and you skipped away, turning back and yelled, "AND AFTER THIS WE NEED TO TALK MK!" Red's face and hair burned knowing what it'd be about. You walked further into the city, no glam, and walked to your home freely. You entered and looked around. You inhaled deeply, it smelled like wood and cinnamon, the sun shining through the wood slabs and warm air engulfing you into a hug. Entering the back room, the door creaked and you saw your brothers. You walked in and said a hello to them. They stood there, saying and doing nothing as they stared at you.

You looked away, saying softly, "I'm back, and I'm so so sorry, I didn't have control." as you explained your experience. Tears leaked from your eyes when they didn't react. You slowly looked at their eyes, searching for a reaction and tears spilling over. you said shakily, "come on Yin and Jin. Stop being so... so foolish!" tears steadily streamed "shout, scream, say something!" you shouted at them you felt so guilty that you hurt them, dragged them into this. But the two hugged you. You stood there and heard Jin softly say, "You're as amazing as the day we lost you." you started crying harder and clutched onto them. You were shaking as the two also began to cry.

You all did missed each other dearly.
