Elena POV

I had enough. I was determined today that I would go back to ask Max again for help. Out of all the police in this town, he seemed to have the most clues and actually cared to figure this out too. They thought he was crazy, I thought he was super passionate about this.

I slipped out of my house, not wanting my mom to question me on where I would be going this early in the morning. I slipped my bag on my back as I walked up the stairs and knocked on his house.

"Hello?" Max said as he peeled open the door. I smiled at him and he opened it up, letting me in. "Hi Elena! You don't have to worry about my brother again, he stormed out the house to go search for tools."

"What's up with the mask anyways?" I asked as I walked over to the board, searching for closer areas. "Does he have acne or something?"

"No. Just always wore one. Anyways, I've leveled out some clues but I'm not too sure. I tried searching for more of my tape and yarn but I can't find any. I feel like I'm really close to seeing where the house is!"

"Then why don't you focus on the board and I'll run to the store to grab more tape and yarn?" I offered and he thanked me. He still gave me money and I ran out the door. I walked to the nearest store that I knew would have tape.

I passed by a pay phone on the way and pulled a quarter out of my bag, calling Gwen's house. She answered on the third ring.

"Hello?"

"Hey! I met up with Max and I'm helping him find some items for the bulletin board. I know it sounds crazy but I have to do this for us. I'm gonna make sure I find my boyfriend and your brother even if the last thing I do."

"Wait. That same house that angry guy was at? Elena no! That's so dangerous!"

"It isn't, chill! I'll be fine. I'll meet up with you after I drop this off to him okay? I'll only be like another 15 minutes. I love you!"

I hung up before she could protest, it was just simple items for Max. It's not like I was getting him drugs or alcohol.

I walked into Wally's, waving hello to the owner as I searched his store for the yarn and thin tape I saw Max use on the board. I was walking out with my purchases when I accidentally ran into someone. I looked up and shrunk a bit when I saw Max's brother, wearing the same mask and looking annoyed when I bumped into him.

"Interesting that I run into you here. At this store. Looking for tape and yarn, hmmm." He circled me once and I gripped my bag. "Don't worry. I'm not as upset as I was this morning. Some would say I was in a killer mood."

"Ha. Nice dad joke." I rolled my eyes and tried to move past him. "If you don't move, I'll make a scene. I promise."

"No need for threats. Just wanted to tell you to stay away from my house. Got it?" He made a gesture for me to pass and I would have, had something not caught my eye on his wrist.

"Where did you get that bracelet." I felt cold instantly as I looked at the familiar black matching bracelet Robin had. I held up my wrist that showed mine and that seemed to be a huge mistake on my end.

The happiness dropped from his eyes and I yelped as he grabbed me, roughly slamming a hand over my mouth as he yanked open a door. I screamed into his hand, scratching my hardest at his hand and he shouted.

He let go of my mouth for a second as he sprayed something in my face. "HE-MMM!!" I tried screamed for help but he slammed my head hard against the door and that was all I remembered before I went out.

Finn POV

"Let her know I love her, Finn." My heart broke at this bittersweet moment. I got to speak to my best friend one last time, but I didn't want to stop this call. One might say I've gone crazy hearing dead people on a phone that was disconnected in this basement, but they've actually helped me live.

Robin was my last call. I was ready to give up and during my breakdown, the phone rang and I felt like I could've cried again once my best friend was on the phone. That meant he was gone and I would have to survive to tell Elena the news.

I let him know the truth, how she was trying to cope and he begged me to take care of her and tell her he loved her. He would stay by her side once he helped me out and I brought him and the others justice.

I made the Grabber really upset this morning, I was sure the next time he came, I would be killed. Not anymore now. Now, Robin had given me the confidence and motivation I needed to kill him and live through this.

The call ended and I did what he said, cutting the wire with my rocket and stuffed the phone with as much dirt as I could. I tested out the impact on my hand and knew it would hurt to be hit hard in the face with this.

I didn't have to wait long, the door opened and I hid the phone behind my back. I heard his sick voice before he came into view. "There's a familiar face I brought for you."

I widened my eyes as he came in, carrying Elena's, hopefully, unconscious body down into the room. He tossed her body on the bed, and chuckled, "I'll be back. All this has gone on way too far. It needs to end especially since that little bitch ruined my game."

He stormed up the stairs after slamming the door shut and I immediately ran to Elena's side. I checked for her pulse, letting out a breath of relief when I still felt it.

He must've gassed her like the rest of us. I didn't know how it happened, it was supposed to be the last call, but I heard Robin's voice through the other end again. Much lighter from the dirt than usual.

"Remember your promise. Put the phone to her."
