As soon as Dustin and I got home, I barely waited for him to drop his backpack before I bolted down the hallway to my room. I shut the door, threw myself on the bed, and grabbed the phone off the nightstand.

My hands were shaking as I dialed Robin's number. I kicked my legs like a maniac while waiting for her to pick up.

Click.

"Hello?" she said.

"Robin, he just asked me on a date!" I practically screamed into the phone.

"What—who?" she asked, totally thrown off.

"Eddie! Like, five minutes ago!" I blurted out.

There was a long pause before she snorted. "Why are you so excited? I thought you didn't like him."

"I don't—well, I don't know," I stammered, rolling onto my back and staring at the ceiling. "When he asked, I felt... different, I guess."

I could practically hear her smirk through the phone. "Y/N, he's literally terrifying. I don't know how you can be around him without running for your life."

"He is not!" I protested, sitting up. "He's actually really sweet—you just don't see it because you're never around him."

"Yeah, because you're in love with him," she teased.

"Oh my god, I am not!" I groaned, grabbing a pillow and smacking it against my face. "We haven't even made plans yet! He just asked me."

"Uh-huh. Sure," she said, clearly not buying it. "He's probably gonna take you to his place and make you one of those sad microwave TV dinners."

"Robin!" I laughed, throwing the pillow across the room. "And even if he did, why would that matter? It's still sweet."

"Whatever you say, Y/N," she sighed, but I could hear the smile in her voice.

I flopped back on my bed, grinning like an idiot. "Steve's gonna be such a hater when I tell him."

"He's not a hater," she said immediately. "He's just... cautious. I'm telling you, Eddie Munson is kind of terrifying. Steve's not trying to ruin your fun—he's just looking out for you. He's heard things, you know... about Eddie being a dealer. He doesn't want you getting mixed up with the wrong crowd."

I sighed, twirling the phone cord around my finger. "He's really not as scary or mean as people say, Robin. He's—" I stopped myself, smiling. "He's different."

Robin chuckled softly. "Aww, Steve's gonna flip when he finds out you said that."

"You better not tell him," I warned, even though I was laughing.

"Fine, fine. My lips are sealed," she said. "But Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't say I didn't warn you if he shows up with one of those creepy metalhead smiles and a frozen Salisbury steak."

I groaned. "Bye, Robin."

She laughed. "Bye, lovebird."

I hung up and fell back onto my bed, staring at the ceiling, a stupid grin spreading across my face. My heart was still racing like I'd just run a mile.

A date with Eddie Munson.
God help me.
