"Hello?" I croaked into the phone, my voice scratchy from sleep. I glanced at the clock on my nightstand.
8:47 PM.
I'd fallen asleep early—again.
"Hey, Y/N. It's Eddie."
That woke me up fast. My eyes shot open and I sat up straight in bed.
"Oh—hey! What's up?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?"
"Umm... sure. When?" I yawned into the receiver, still a little foggy.
"Oh my god. Did I wake you up? I didn't think you'd be sleeping so earl—"
"Eddie, it's fine," I chuckled, rubbing my eyes. "When did you want to hang out?"
"Well..." He hesitated, sounding nervous.
"Well?"
"I'm kinda... outside right now."
My heart jumped. I threw off my blankets and sprinted into the bathroom. My reflection stared back at me—hair a tangled mess, sleep lines on my cheek, and my outfit consisted of pink monkey pajama pants and a black spaghetti strap tank top.
Whatever.
I brushed my hair quickly and darted downstairs. When I opened the door, Eddie was standing on the porch in his usual leather jacket and jeans, smiling wide. He held a white takeout bag in his ring-covered hands, and his grin only grew when he saw my outfit.
"I was asleep," I said, raising an eyebrow. "Did you really think I was gonna sleep in jeans?"
"Nope," he laughed.
"Come on," I said, shaking my head as I stepped aside to let him in. I led him into the kitchen where he set the white bag on the table.
"What's that?"
"I brought food," he said, pulling out a few little takeout boxes.
"My knight in shining armor. However will I repay you?" I joked, bowing dramatically.
He rolled his eyes and took a seat across from me.
"I was craving breakfast food," he said with a shrug.
"Perfect," I grinned.
He slid one of the boxes over to me, revealing thick slices of French toast topped with bananas.
"Ooooh," I said, already digging in with my eyes.
"Is that okay? I've got pancakes too, if you want those instead."
"No, this is great," I laughed. In the third box was a mix of bacon, eggs, and sausage. I grabbed two plates and two cups, setting them in front of us, then went to the fridge. "Okay... I have Coke, orange juice, chocolate milk—"
"Orange juice is good," he called out.
I brought both the orange juice and chocolate milk to the table. He stared at me as I poured myself a glass of the chocolate milk.
"I'm a kid at heart," I shrugged, laughing.
We began eating.
"So how'd you find my house?" I asked between bites.
"I've been here before. For Dustin," he said, mouth full of pancake.
"Hm," I hummed. I cut off a piece of my French toast and swapped it for a piece of his pancake. "Sorry. Yours looked better. They have strawberries."
Eddie just laughed.
"How was DnD?"
"It was good. We just started a new quest today."
