For the past month, Eddie had been with me practically everywhere. Hallways, lunch breaks, after-school hangouts — he was my shadow. Not that I was complaining. The only downside was all the stares I got when people saw me walking next to the self-proclaimed metalhead of Hawkins High.

But I didn't care. Whether it was just us, or a group hangout with Dustin and the others, we were always together.
And the truth was — Eddie Munson was a total gentleman. It was like he worshiped the ground I walked on. It was sweet, and sometimes a little overwhelming, but never in a bad way.

Robin and I had even started sitting with his group at lunch. Gareth and Jeff complained daily that Eddie was impossible now because he wouldn't stop talking about me.

And then one day, between one of his stories and my laughter — he finally asked me to be his girlfriend.

Eddie's POV

Eddie dropped his lunch tray onto the cafeteria table, grin already in place.
"You know what happened today in first period?" he started, unwrapping a sandwich with way too much energy for a Thursday.

Gareth groaned. "Oh god, here we go again."

Eddie ignored him. "Y/N came and—"

"—and walked past you? Looked at you? Man, she's literally your girlfriend," Gareth interrupted, leaning back in his chair. "You see her every day."

"If you'd let me finish," Eddie shot back through gritted teeth, "you'd know that she came up to me and asked me to study. Together. At her place. Tonight."

He smirked proudly, tossing a smug look at both Gareth and Jeff.

"Wow," Jeff said dryly. "Your own girlfriend invited you over. Big day, Munson."

"Oh god," Dustin groaned from beside them, burying his face in his hands. "You're gonna make me lose my appetite."

"Sorry, Henderson," Eddie said with a shrug that was anything but apologetic. "Can't help it if your sister's crazy about me."

Dustin muttered something about moving to another planet while Eddie just laughed, tapping his rings against the table like he'd just won something.

Y/N's POV

When I told Mom that Eddie was coming over to study for our history test, she practically sprinted to the kitchen. Within minutes, she was setting out snacks and pouring lemonade.

"Mom, you don't have to—"

"Y/N, hush," she said with a smile. "Now go get the door."

I rolled my eyes but did as told. Dustin and Eddie were on the porch. I greeted Eddie with a quick peck on the cheek before letting them in.

"Nice to see you again, Eddie," Mom said warmly, giving him a quick hug that made his ears go pink.

"Ready?" I asked, and he nodded. We went upstairs, spread our notebooks out across my bed, and tried to focus on the textbook.

That lasted maybe two minutes before Dustin barged in — carrying a plate of snacks, of course.

"I come bearing gifts," he said dramatically, then plopped down beside Eddie like it was his seat.

I sighed. What was supposed to be a study date turned into Dustin and Eddie making jokes while I did both of our history outlines.

When I finally looked up from my notes, Eddie was stretched across the bed, laughing at something Dustin said. I smiled despite myself.

"Do you wanna stay here tonight?" I asked once Dustin left. "Your clothes from last weekend are clean — top drawer."

His grin was instant. "Of course I wanna stay."

I laughed and headed to the bathroom. Halfway through my shower, I realized I'd forgotten to grab clothes. Groaning, I shut off the water, wrapped myself in a towel, and rushed out.

As I rifled through my dresser drawers, I heard Eddie chuckle behind me.

"I forgot my clothes, you doofus," I said over my shoulder.

"I don't mind you without them," he teased, eyes glinting mischievously.

My face went hot. "Eddie!" I threw a pillow at him, and he burst out laughing as I retreated back into the bathroom to change.

When I came back, my hair damp and my eyes heavy, Eddie was already lying down in his pajamas — stretched out like he'd been there all along.

I turned off the main light, leaving only the soft glow of my string lights, and crawled into bed beside him. His warmth instantly spread through me. I rested my head on his chest as his hand lazily traced up and down my back.

"You should take these off when you sleep," I murmured, playing with his rings.

"I like them on all the time, sweetheart," he mumbled into my hair.

Smiling, I gently slipped them off one by one, sliding them onto my own fingers. Most of them were way too big — except one. It was a set of tiny silver vampire teeth.

"This one fits," I said softly, holding up my hand.

"You can have that one," he said without hesitation.

"No way," I protested.

"Sweetheart," he said, voice low and a little rough, "keep it. Think of it as... a promise ring."

My heart fluttered in my chest. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," he said with a smile I could feel more than see. He took my hand and slid the ring gently back onto my finger. "Looks better on you anyway."

I wanted to say something — anything — but all that came out was a quiet laugh. He pressed a soft kiss to my forehead and whispered, "Get some sleep."

And for once, I did — perfectly content, the hum of his heartbeat beneath my ear and his promise glinting faintly under the fairy lights.
