It was a Friday night AKA the universal time to party the night away. Midnight is when the wild come to play and Elias was wild, at least he thought so. He looked in the mirror and winked at himself. I look pretty snazzy, don't I? He thought to himself. He had just turned twenty-one and for his birthday he was going all out.
He invited all his friends to the biggest club in New York, and he was ready to– well– do whatever people do at clubs. Drink? Nah, he's tried it before and he despised the taste of alcohol. Dance? No! He had two left feet and the grace of a duck, he'd injure whoever he's dancing with before the beat drops. Flirt? Probably not, the last time a girl saw him she ran away crying. That may be an overstatement but the point still stands. Maybe I should've had some practice before I decided to spend my birthday here. He's officially an adult, well more like has all the perks of one, and wanted to try them out. Maybe just chilling at home with takeout would've been better but there was no way he was backing out now.
Elias strolled out the door and into the uber he got. The city lights would look beautiful if he hasn't been living here his entire life. He got dropped off, paid a generous tip cause today was a good day and, walked into the party.
It was loud, like really loud. The music playing was some pop, some that got remixed several times and people were all over each other. After narrowly avoiding vomit on the floor, he decided to try to have fun when he found his friend. They were all here already, Elias came fashionably late but he didn't see him anywhere. He sat down in the bar and politely denied a drink someone bought for him. Unlike him, his friends enjoyed drinking for one reason or another and he expected them to be near. Eventually, he saw his friend, Shaw, but instead of heading towards him, he walked straight through a wall. And did he have horns?
Elias swerved between dancers and drunks before getting to that wall. It was rock solid. Then he felt someone shove him forward and he fell through. The music, while still loud, was different and the atmosphere changed dramatically. Elias looked up to see monsters, mummies, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and Shaw who now looked like a demon. Midnight was when the wild came to play, and creatures of the night were wild. Elias though? He didn't even come close.
