TW: Suicide (I hope I didn't come off as insensitive, I'm not depressed or suicidal in any way so I don't know how it feels but I still wanted to write this)
Falling. Father and farther down, the wind pushing against me. Yells from up above were slowly getting farther away. This was it, it's finally over. But my eyes won't close, my hands ball up and my heart starts beating rapidly. Panic racks through my body like a tsunami. Why am I feeling like this, I'm supposed to be at peace, tears well up in my eyes, Why did I jump? My body, heavy with regret, falls against the cold pavement below me.
Cassian wakes up in a cold sweat. He was shaking uncontrollably and his breath was unsteady. The dream flashed through his head over and over again, the feelings he experienced wouldn't go away. He closed his eyes and tried to count to three but every time he did he saw the sky above him, he heard the yells from atop the building. He shakily reached for the water on his bedside table, drinking it and trying to catch his breath. It took several more minutes to calm him down. Never had a premonition been that intense.
This one was different. The dream was so clear it didn't even feel like something from his mind. He's never felt the emotions so vividly, the regret and fear swirling in the person's mind making him feel sick. The vision had never been from the eyes of another person, instead of just a bystander in the clouds. Cassian was falling. Cassian crashed to the ground. Cassian was the young man, so tired of being alone he threw himself off the building. Despite his heart still thumping in his chest he got up from his bed and started getting ready to leave. He didn't know who the person from the vision was but he knew he needed to save them, somehow.
He rushed out of his apartment and outside into the cool summer day. Thinking of his premonition was painful but he needed to somehow know where the person will be. Or at least who he was. Anything that could be used to somehow save him. The city was filled with tall buildings and giant skyscrapers. Fear struck his heart as he ran through the busy city, how was Cassian supposed to do this?
Cassian stopped in his tracks, despair filling his mind. He had nothing. He didn't know who the person was, what they looked liked, where they were or if he was already too late. Even if he did meet the person, what would he say, Hey I know you don't know who I am but please don't jump so my conscience will be clean? Why did he even get out of bed? It was hopeless. Cassian couldn't do anything, he was useless.
Cassian kept walking, not back to his home, he didn't really know where. He was deep in his thoughts, still debating if he should even try. Barely any of his premonitions have been bad and the ones that were ended up being unavoidable. Could he even change destiny? It wasn't his fault he knew it, but his mood drastically lowered, his mind fogging up with dark thoughts. Then he bumped into a young man, lukewarm coffee spilled all over his clothes but that didn't matter. The vision replayed but this time from the eyes of another, the man apologizing for ruining his clothes was the one from his vision. Cassian had found him. Cassian could save him.
