I exhaled the smoke from my cigarette, carefully watching people as they passed by on the adjoining busy street. I was hidden in the shadows of an alley, leaned up against a wall. I wasn't trying to draw attention to myself, but some people just loved to stare at me. For example, this man walking by just now. Quite plain looking, he was dressed in work attire, looking at me as if I was an alien from another planet. I didn't think twice before I gave him the most sadistic smile I could, and waved my fingers at him, while still holding on to my cigarette. He looked back at me in surprise, before quickly turning away and hurrying off. I chuckled to myself. 'Too easy.' I thought to myself.
I took one last puff of my cigarette, before throwing it to the ground and stomping it out. I popped the collar of my jacket a bit and hurried to catch up with the man. I stood tall and proud, making sure my movement was concise. "Hey babe, looking for some company?" I asked seductively, keeping pace with him easily. Even though, he was very much desperately trying to get away from me. I looked him up and down a moment, taking in details about his appearance. He was a rich man for sure, the watch he was wearing was expensive as shit and so was his wedding ring.
"No." He said sternly, looking straight forward.
"Come on, I'll make it worth you while." I purred grabbing on to his arm, pushing myself into him. I carefully slipped my other hand into his pocket, and swiped his wallet. He recoiled from me.
"Disgusting, wretched woman you are. Get away from me." He said, pushing me back. I had already slipped his wallet into my jacket pocket, without him noticing.
"Fine, fine. Tell the misses I said hi." I said blowing him a kiss, as he hurried off again. I quickly walked in the opposite direction. I didn't want him to come after me, when he found out his wallet was missing. There was one occasion where I was too careless and was caught stealing. I managed to get away before the police came, but I did not want another mishap. I was good at disappearing into crowds, I happened to blend in well, with my fedora covering most of my face. Easy to escape, easy to not be found.
I weaved through the crowd until I found a back alley to dip into. Once I made sure the coast was clear and I knew for a fact that I wasn't followed. I pulled the stolen wallet out of my pocket and looked through it. I was met with a plethora of credit cards and a couple of IDs, I noted that this wasn't a politician or a policeman before I completely disregarded the cards. I checked the wallet for any cash and what do you know? There was five-hundred buck chilling in there. "I will take that." I muttered, grabbing the cash and then tossing the wallet to the ground. I quickly tucked it away and hurried down the alley a bit more.
I took many turns, through the maze of alleyways this part of town was, making sure I was getting far enough away from the scene of my latest crime. Though, this is a shady part of town and a pretty girl dressed in a suit is the least of people's worries around here. The ability wielding Port Mafia, was far more dangerous than any petty thief and I knew that from first hand experience...
Lost in thought I was not paying attention to my surroundings, a bad habit really, one that could not be trained out of me, no matter how hard my previous mentor had tried. It was too late before I noticed that the exit in front of me was being blocked. I stopped dead in my tracks and took a step backward. I scanned the people in front of me. They had guns trained on me, they were dressed in suits and just had that certain aura about them.
The Port Mafia.
'Shit.' I thought, taking another step back. I needed to run, there was no way I could take on the Port Mafia by myself like this, even with my weapon and ability. That's when I heard many footsteps behind me. I glanced back to see the other way being blocked by more of the Mafia's dogs. 'Great.' I reached for my gun, that was holstered to my belt.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." A voice from in front of me said. I pulled my hand away from the holster and stood up straight. The dogs parted to reveal a sharply dressed, red-head. "We've been watching you for a while now, Ms. Dakota Winters." I straightened out even more, no one knew me. I was a shadow, even in the system. No one knows my name. As I desperately tried to connect dots in my mind, the red-head chuckled at me. "You're not as smooth as you think you are."
I was taken back, that was offensive. I hide my identity pretty well and there was no way anyone could find me. Whatever these fuckers did to find me, was some shady ass shit. Then again... it is the Port Mafia. "Listen, whatever you think I did... I had nothing to do with it." I responded, crossing my arms.
"Oh please. I literally just watched you swipe that man's wallet and steal all of his cash." The man said. I opened my mouth to say something, but then I decided there was no use arguing with facts. There was a pause of silence before I shrugged.
"So what? That man was of no importance, I checked. What's the mafia got to do with some girl stealing money anyways?" I asked, stand-offishly. The answer was nothing! I had nothing to do with the mafia and never will.
"You're not just some girl. First of all, you're a wanted criminal, technically even though those bozo's in the police force have no clue who you are. Second of all, our boss sees you as a person of interest and he wants to meet you." The man explained, taking a step forward.
"Well, I want nothing to do with this. I've seen what it does to people." I said, standing my ground. My mentor had warned me about the mafia and how dangerous it was. Being any kind of associated with it was bad news. The man laughed at me.
"You can either play nicely, or we can take you by force. Your choice." He said. I stared him dead in the face. He was right and I knew it. I thought for a moment. I guess it wouldn't be that bad to at least see what the Port Mafia's boss had to say. Plus I didn't really have a choice here, I was going either way.
"Fine. I'll play nice. But you try anything funny and you'll be six feet under Chuuya Nakahara." I spat.
"Ha! Alright, girl. Let's go then." He said, turning on his heel. I followed behind him, the mafia's dogs surrounding behind us.
And off we went, to the Port Mafia's home base.
