Once I had calmed down enough, to just sit a breathe for a second, Chuuya asked me, "Are you okay?"
I half chuckled at him, through sniffles. "Totally. My whole life has been a fucking lie. And a waste. I had a family that might have wanted me, but never knew where I was and now they're all dead so I can't reach out. I swear... I'll kill that girl if it's the last thing I do, purely out of spite."
"Wow... You're starting to sound more like me every minute." He joked, trying to lighten the mood. I laughed, because he was right and it was funny.
"Shut up." I pushed his shoulder and he giggled at me. I sat back in my chair and looked out the window. We were still parked in the alley. I sighed. "Okay... what's next?" I wanted to go do a mission or something, forget all of this was happening. I needed a distraction.
"I guess we should go back now." Chuuya said, starting the car.
"Oh shit... We never reported back did we?" I said, suddenly startled. After yesterday's mission we never reported back to Mori to let him know we got it done. A lot happened since then, so it made sense that I forgot. However, I did not want to be on Mori's bad side at all and this might land us there.
"No... we didn't." Chuuya said, calmly. He started driving, heading back toward the Port Mafia home base.
"Oops." I said quietly. We made our way back to the base and Chuuya parked the car outside. We quickly got out and hurried inside.
"Where have you two been?" Higuchi asked. We were stopped by the Black Lizard members hanging out in the lobby. All of them were standing mingling with their subordinates, but they all stopped and stared at us.
"We had a mission and some personal business to attend to." Chuuya responded, continuing to walk on past them. I followed closely behind.
"Boss has been looking for you two. Better hurry." An older gentleman said, as we walked past him. I recognized him as Hirotsu. I hadn't gotten to meet him yet, although I'm not sure that I want to anymore. He was quite intimidating and knowing his ability, I didn't really want to be anywhere near him. Why was everyone in the Port Mafia so dangerous and scary? I was starting to regret this profession.
"That's where we were headed." Chuuya said nonchalantly. He started up the stairs and I followed behind. I didn't look behind us, but I could feel everyone's eyes staring at us. I quickened my pace and ended up passing Chuuya up the stairs. I hurried down the hall to the elevator and called it. "In a hurry?" Chuuya asked, catching up to me.
"Everyone was staring..." I said quietly, as the elevator dinged and opened. I quickly got in and shoved myself into one of the corners. Chuuya also entered and pressed the button to the top floor. The elevator closed and on our way we were to Mori's office.
"You're cute when you're shy." Chuuya said, sauntering over to me. He took me by the waist and pulled me to him.
"I'll kill you." I said, draping my arms over his shoulders.
"Do it, I dare you." He pulled me in closer, so that our faces were close enough to touch.
"Oh, you wish I would, pretty boy." I took one of my hands and ran it across his jaw. The elevator dinged, letting us know we arrived at our destination. Chuuya dropped his hands from my waist, he was staring at me. I smiled at him and winked as I walked off the elevator. I knew I was driving him crazy and I loved it. He followed behind.
We made our way to Mori's office and stood outside the door. My nerves started acting up. I remembered why we came up here. And now I was feeling a little nauseous. "After you..." I said, quietly, backing away from the door.
