I woke up with the sun shining directly in my face. I groaned. The sun was way too bright. My head hurt so much and I felt sick to my stomach. Everything was sore as well.

I opened my eyes slowly. I blinked a couple of times trying to adjust to my surroundings. I was still in Chuuya's office, in the chair by the window. I guess I had fallen asleep here after last night. I looked over to where Chuuya had been, he was no longer sitting in the chair opposite mine.

I winced as I sat up and looked around the room. Chuuya was nowhere to be seen, and the office was pretty much spotless. No papers, no wine bottle or glasses, everything was cleaned up. I looked back out toward the window. The sun had just started rising, the city was shining in the light. I could see the sea glinting in the distance. Everything looked so peaceful from up here. I almost wanted to close my eyes and go back to sleep.

Except I knew I couldn't, not with this mega headache and excruciatingly long day ahead. I still had to process what Chuuya told me last night... and that was gonna hurt.

Speaking of headaches, I heard the door open behind me and someone enter. "Good morning." Chuuya said.

"Hrmph." I mumbled in response. Morning's were not my thing, I happened to be a creature of the night. My voice simply did not want to cooperate with me either. So that's all he was getting. I heard him chuckle at me. I whipped my head around to give him a dirty look.

"You look like shit." He laughed again. I rolled my eyes and turned back around, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Here." He came around to the chair and handed me a paper bag and a glass of water.

"What's this?" I managed to groan out, taking the bag and glass from his hands.

"For that nasty hangover." I watched Chuuya walk over to his desk and sit down. He threw his jacket over the back of his chair. "I also turned in the report, so we don't have to worry about that." I nodded and opened the bag, inside there were a couple of plain bagels. "I didn't know what you wanted, so I just got you that." He shrugged.

"Thanks Chuuya." I said, taking one of the bagels and taking a bite. I felt nauseous, but I knew eating something would help. So I tried my best to eat what I could.

"Drink some water too." Chuuya said from behind me.

"Chuuya..." I called out sweetly, I turned around to look at him.

"What?" He said, looking back at me.

"Wine mom. Emphasis on mom." I joked, pointing at him.

"Shut up and drink your water." He waved me off. I laughed at him, but obliged. I drank the entire cup within the span of a minute. Apparently I was dying of thirst and I just hadn't noticed. I mean who would with a splitting headache and a nauseous stomach?

After eating something and having some water, I was starting to feel a little better. I stood up from the chair and walked over to Chuuya's desk. He was thumbing through some paperwork. I leaned on my arms, on the front of his desk. "What?" He asked.

"Nothing... just seeing what you're doing." I said leaning forward more to get a look at the papers.

He sighed. "I'm looking through files to see if there's anything we can do. We weren't assigned anything today, so I'm going through old cases."

"Can I see?" I asked. Chuuya shrugged and handed me half the stack of papers to look through. I took them and started pacing the room looking through them. None really caught my attention. They were mostly mundane tasks, like intimidating people who owe the mafia money, to pay up, or take property back that was stolen from the mafia... I say mundane, but for the shit that happened yesterday I needed something exciting.

We continued searching through the files before I found something that sounded fun. "Chuuya. How does this sound?" I stopped pacing and turned to face Chuuya. He stopped looking through the papers and gave me his attention. I began reading off the page, "'Target wanted dead or alive for insubordination.' Get this: dude tried to sell information to the police about mafia secrets." I looked back up at Chuuya, who looked at me confused.

"That probably should not be in this pile of trash. But yes, I like the sound of that. Let me see it." He said, motioning for me to come closer. I walked over to his desk and handed him the paper. I watched him, as he read through the paper. "Yeah, this is old, and should not have been in this pile." Chuuya said standing up. He folded the paper and put it in his pocket. "Let's go." I set the rest of the pile back down on his desk. Chuuya grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair and began walking toward the door.

I followed him out of the office and toward the stairs down. Chuuya and I made our way downstairs to the main floor of the building. There were people milling about, but when they saw us coming they moved out of the way. Just as we were about to exit the building, we were stopped, "Chuuya! Hold on a minute." We turned around and saw a woman with blonde hair running toward us. I remembered her from the other day, she was standing outside the door eavesdropping on us. Higuchi, if I'm remembering correctly.

"What is it, Higuchi?" Chuuya responded, dryly. Yep, I remembered.

"Where are you guys off to?" She asked looking between us.

"A job. What do you want?" Chuuya said, straight to the point as always. No chit-chatting. I liked that.

"Oh, uh... everybody wants to meet your new partner." Higuchi said standing straight up, still looking between the two of us.

"Of course they do." He muttered, turning around. "Not now. They will have to wait, we'll be back later." Chuuya opened the door and held it a moment so I could follow.

"Sure. Come find us when you're done." Higuchi called as we both exited the building.

"Don't count on it." Chuuya said under his breath. I snickered at him.

"Don't like people much?" I asked.

"Something like that..." He mumbled out. We made our way to his car.

"I don't blame you... people suck." I said quietly.

"Tch, something we can agree on." Chuuya responded. We reached his car and he opened the passenger side for me and I got in, closing the door behind me. He came around to the driver's side and also entered, putting his seatbelt on. "Ready?" He asked. I clicked my seatbelt into place.

"Yep. Let's go!" I said, smiling. He softly smiled back. 'Is that a genuine smile on Chuuya's face?'

And just like that, we were off.
