We made our way down the hall and reached a door. Chuuya used his free hand to open the door and we entered together. The room was concrete, there were guns lining one wall, a wall with windows looking into a seperate room that appeared to be a firing range. There were mats on the opposite end of the room, lining the floors and walls. "Alright so, you know how to shoot right?" Chuuya asked, still holding on to my hand.
"Yeah." I responded. I did know how to shoot. It was one of the few things that Oda and Dazai taught me how to do. Oda always said to only use it for self-defense, which I've kept my word and haven't shot anyone... yet. There hasn't been a need for me to shoot anyone, so I mostly keep it holstered.
"Good. I'm gonna teach you hand to hand combat then. It will be more useful than a gun with your ability, especially against the other ability users." He said, dropping my hand. He started walking over to the mats.
"Now, hold on a minute." I said, not following him.
"What is it?" He stopped walking. He turned around and look at me.
"I know what this is. I'm not about to get my ass handed to me, by you. I refuse to fight you." I crossed my arms and didn't move. Chuuya took a couple of steps back toward me.
"Come on, I'll go easy on you." He said, holding out his hand to me. I narrowed my eyes at him and shook my head.
"That's just insulting." I said. I uncrossed my arms and took his hand. As soon as I had a grip on him he flung me over his head toward the mats. I landed on the ground, straight on my back. At least it was on the mats, so it didn't hurt as much, but it definitely knocked the wind out of me. As soon as I caught my breath I stood up slowly. I noticed Chuuya chuckling at me. "That was uncalled for and I'm gonna kick your ass for it."
He started walking toward me. "Sure, go ahead. Try me." I raised my eyebrow at him and then smirked. I activated my ability, putting a portal beneath him and then on the ceiling nearby where I was. He fell through and stumbled, I'd caught him off-guard. I took the opportunity to kick his feet out from underneath him. He fell to the ground and I put my foot on his chest to keep him from getting up.
"How about that?" I asked condescendingly.
"Not bad. But also unfair." He said, grabbing my ankle with one hand. He activated his ability and removed my foot from his chest. He used that to throw me back a little bit. I landed on my feet and caught my balance.
"What do you mean?! This whole thing is unfair." I said. I quickly placed a portal beneath me and then one right above Chuuya. I tried to land straight on top of him, but he saw what I was doing and dodged me. I landed on my feet, but Chuuya was able to kick me straight in the stomach knocking me back into the wall. I fell to the ground, I couldn't breathe, that hurt. That was gonna leave a bruise, I could already feel it. "What happened to going easy on me?" I asked hoarsely. I slowly stood up, everything hurt. I reached my arms above my head to stretch my back out. My entire back cracked, as I stretched.
"This is easy. Also, your back is not okay, you need to see someone about that." He said, walking slowly toward me.
"This is easy?! And leave me and my back alone!" I said, jokingly. I activated my ability again and put a portal beneath Chuuya and the other one far back on the other side of the room. "Stay over there." I leaned over, putting my hands on my knees, my back against the wall, trying to catch my breath.
"You can't keep doing that." He said, walking toward me again.
"Yes I can." I put another portal beneath him and the other in a different part of the room. I kept doing it, putting him in different spots in the room every couple of seconds. "I can do this as long as I want." I paused a moment.
"Will you stop that?!" He demanded, standing slowly, trying to regain his balance. I chuckled at him and also stood up straight.
"See? I can just do that and I'll be fine." I said. We began walking toward each other.
"This isn't combat..." Chuuya mumbled. We had reached other, there was barely any space between the both of us.
"Why don't you show me what combat is then?" I said, smirking at him. He smiled back and took my wrists and lifted them up, so my hands blocked my face.
"Well, this is how you block. So when someone tries to hit your face, they'll hit your arms instead." He threw a light punch to my arms. "See? Which is your dominant hand?" He asked. I nodded, I understood the basics like this, but I liked that he was taking his time to show me what to do.
"Both." I answered. He smiled at me.
"Me too. Alright, so when you're throwing punches you wanna start with your non-dominant, to stun your attacker and then use your dominant to throw the heavy hit. Always bring it back to here. Like this." He put his hands up in front of his face. He started demonstrating by throwing a couple of light punches at me. "Try it." He said, nodding at me. He went back to a defending position.
I copied him, hitting just as light as he did. "You can hit harder than that..." Chuuya looked at me, almost disappointed that I wasn't trying hard. Except if I wanted to try harder I would have.
"Okay... you asked for it." I responded shrugging. I didn't hold back this time and full on starting throwing punches left and right. I caught him off guard at first and was able to get a good few hits in before he started dodging me. I stopped when he started backing away faster.
"Woah, hey! What's that?! You already know how to fight!" He shouted.
"Yeah..." I half-mumbled, lowering my fists.
"Then why am I teaching you the basics? You got it." He said, coming closer to me, "Come at me. I wanna see what you can do."
I smiled at him and put my hands back up. I let him get into a defense before I started throwing punches again. He could easily dodge me, I was kind of slow. A couple of time I got close to actually hitting him but he blocked and pushed me back a bit. I was trying to think of ways that I could actually get a punch in. I wanted revenge for him throwing me across the room. And then I had thought of a brilliant idea.
Just as I threw my next punch, I activated a portal in front of my fist and directly behind Chuuya. I felt my fist come into contact with his back. He stumbled forward a bit before he flung around to see what had happened but I had already pulled my fist back. That was when I rushed at him and jumped on top of him, pinning him face first to the floor.
"Cheater." He said to the floor. I grabbed one of his arms and held it behind his back.
"Sorry what was that? I can't hear you over the sweet sound of revenge." I answered, smiling triumphantly.
"Psh..." He scoffed.
"What? Give up?" I asked sarcastically. He struggled under me for a moment before he pushed himself up with his free arm, lifting both of us off the ground a bit. "Oh? You can lift both of us without your ability?"
"Give me a little credit. I'm more than my ability you know." He responded jokingly. He chuckled, as I let go of his arm. He used that arm to hold our weight as well.
"Right, just surprised because your so small." I joked, getting off of him. He started pushing himself up to stand.
"I don't think you can say things like that when you're shorter than me." He said, standing tall. My breath hitched as he took another step toward me. We were barely inches apart. The way he said that did something to me and suddenly I had forgotten what we were doing here. "What nothing to say?" I couldn't think straight, no thoughts, head empty, just Chuuya, in front of me, looking sexy as hell. His arms wrapped around my waist. He pulled me into him, our chests touching. "This is a first. I have you speechless." He chuckled.
"Shut up." I mumbled, blushing. I looked down to the floor, I didn't want him to see that I was embarrassed. One of his hands left my waist and came up to my chin. He tilted my head back up, so that I was looking at him. He smiled at me.
"You're adorable." He said.
"Will you kiss me already?" I asked impatiently. He laughed lightly.
He brought his lips to mine and kissed me.
