Denzyl was by Devyn's side when the doors to the conference room opened and the three entered. All eyes were on the young CEO as Devyn confidently walked past the several board members. The CEO was silent as he took his seat and Denzyl came to stand behind him just as he always had. Being the right-hand and successor in line to Wil Kossen, Miren took her seat at the head of the table.

"Let us begin," Miren stated in commencement of the meeting. A man on the right of Miren in the third chair cleared his throat before beginning, "We have convened today to discuss actions regarding the events between the betrothed Wil Kossen and Devyn Vaumyr and determine whether Wil Kossen is fit to remain CEO of VIANT. You may now state your cases."

"Wil Kossen can no longer say his own name. I believe this is enough evidence he is no longer fit for his position," a woman with strikingly blonde hair stated. "Let us not waste our time. We are all aware Mr. Kossen is no longer the man he used to be."

"Then, we shall put it to a vote," Miren proposed. "The majority shall win. Those in favor of removing Wil Kossen from his position as CEO of VIANT, raise your hand." Directly following Miren's words, the entirety of the board raised their hand. "It seems the vote was unanimous. Wil Kossen has been removed from his position as CEO."

"And now, for the question we have been waiting for, who shall replace him?" The man in the third chair on the right inquired with a lift of his brow as he scanned the members fanned around table.

"I nominate Miren Heyan as the succeeding CEO of VIANT." All eyes turned to the young CEO as Devyn continued, "Miren is the best fit for the position. She had been Wil's assistant for over fifty years. It will be a smooth transition should Miren be selected." Devyn took a moment to pause and emphasize his next worlds. "After all, would you not prefer a smooth transition where your positions and stocks are not liable to dramatic change?" Quiet murmurs sounded around the table in response to Devyn's piercing and very much rhetorical inquiry.

"Would it not be better to wait for the verdict?" A man on the left in the fifth chair spoke up. The grey-haired turned his gaze to the woman sitting at the head of the table as he said, "After all, we do not yet know the cause of Wil Kossen's sudden degradation nor do we know who is responsible."

Miren lifted a brow at the man's imply but did not react further. Heads nodded as the members agreed with the man's suggestion. "We shall reconvene following the verdict where a candidate would then be selected," Miren stated before standing to her feet. "This concludes our meeting. Thank you for gathering."

Those in attendance bowed their heads to each other in respect before beginning to filter out of the conference room. Devyn and Miren lingered as the stream of attendees trickled out through the doors until it was just the demon and two humans. "That went better than I had expected," Miren revealed as she came to stand beside the couple. Devyn nodded in agreement while Miren asked, "So, what's next?"

"We eat."

"As in lunch?" Miren turned to Devyn at the man's unexpected answer to see his expression held relief. Wil could no longer hold any sway over Vaumyr and Co.

"Mm." A small smile came to Devyn's lips when he sounded his response. "Let's have some lunch."

The young CEO let out a slow breath. He currently stood before two wooden doors behind which a team of executive attorneys and advisers was seated. Devyn completed releasing his breath before squaring his shoulders and nodding to the man stationed to the side of the door. Upon the CEO's signal, the man bowed his head before opening the set of doors.
