"Daddy, use your girl's voice!" Chloe pouted.

For the past month, Chloe has been calling Soda dad and Soda didn't object to it. I was cautious at first because I didn't know how Soda would react to it, but when Soda was fine with it I was all for it.

"I'm using the best girl voice I can come up with!" Soda pouted. I giggled from the kitchen as I washed the lunch dishes. Chloe had strict rules when it came to playing Barbies, and if she wanted you to play with a girl Barbie, you had to use your girl's voice.

"Then you can be Ken and Mommy will be that Barbie." I wiped my hands off on the kitchen towel before I walked into the living room.

"Here, Grace, you get to be that one." Soda handed me the Barbie that Chloe had given him in the first place and Chloe handed Soda the only Ken doll she had.

"God I wish I got your girl voice on video." Soda glared at me as I giggled.

"Mommy you be the mommy, Daddy will be the daddy, and I'll be the little girl," Chloe explained.

"I'll be very good at my part." Soda said, causing Chloe to giggle.

~

Suddenly a knock sounded on the door, while we were all still playing Barbies with Chloe.

"I'll be back, don't play without me, Chloe!" She smiled.

I walked to the door, asking myself who it could be. Soda and I weren't expecting anyone today unless I forgot about something.

When I opened the door, it was a man I didn't recognize. He looked about mid-forties, but he didn't look bad. I couldn't for the life of me remember who he was.

"Um, hello?" I chuckled a bit, standing there awkwardly.

"You're Grace Wolfenhard, right?" I nodded. "You're Chloe's, sister, right?" I gulped.

"How do you know that?" He pulled out a photo, handing it to me. It was my Mom.

"I recognize you from when your Mom introduced us, Chloe wasn't born yet." I nodded, acting as if I knew who he was.

"If you're looking for her then you're out of luck, she passed away." He nodded.

"Yes, I know that, she died in childbirth. I've thought about it for a while now, but I think I may be Chloe's father." I felt my stomach do cartwheels, and not in a good way.

"Soda!" I turned around, seeing Soda get up with a confused look on his face.

"What's going on?" He asked quickly, looking at the guy on our porch.

"Can you take Chloe to her room, please?" He nodded, still looking confused, before going over to Chloe and gathering her toys.

~

"I'm sorry to barge in so suddenly, but I've put a lot of thought into it before I came to confront you." I nodded, trying to think about how I would explain this to Chloe.

"So I'm guessing you'd want to visit Chloe, hang out with her and such?" The man, who I came to find out was named Ted, glanced at the ground for a moment.

"I'd actually like to have custody of Chloe since I'm her father and all." My stomach felt as if it was doing flips again.

The court decided that since I didn't know who my mom had been with, I'd get to keep Chloe because there was no one to compare DNA with, but now there was and I could lose Chloe.

"I'm sorry but I can't let that happen, she thinks I'm her mom and if I try to explain to her that I'm her sister at her age she'd just be confused." Soda came out of Chloe's room, and into the living room.

"I can get a lawyer if you won't do this the easy way," Ted said, shoving his hands in his pockets as he stood up.

"I can as well, you're not taking Chloe, whether you like it or not!" Ted glared at me, as I felt Soda's hand on my shoulder.

"Grace what's going on?" My tears were welling up with tears that I wished would've stayed hidden. I knew there was a large possibility that they'd let Ted have custody of Chloe, and I could never see her again.

"You'll be hearing from my lawyer." Ted walked out, slamming the door behind him.

"Grace-"

"He said he's Chloe's father, and he wants custody of her." I quickly wiped my eyes, feeling like an idiot for crying when there was no reason to.

"Grace, we can get a lawyer. A good one." I nodded.

"Chloe's my life, he can't take her." I felt my chin wobble, causing Soda to look at me sympathetically.

"He's not taking Chloe, I swear."
