Today was the day. The day I dreamed of, and many little girls dream of, as a child. I had planned out many different weddings, styles, and aesthetics varied on my age but I chose one that I was sure younger me would've liked either way.
Soda said he didn't mind what the theme of the wedding was, as long as I liked it, but I still tried to put Soda's touch on everything.
My dress was big and poofed out when it reached my waist. It was called a 'ball gown' apparently. The upper part of the dress was lace and created to look like flowers with a heart-shaped neckline until they slowly faded into the skirt which was long and white. At the very end of the dress, the lace flowers came back into play.
Chloe's dress as the flower girl was filled with rhinestones at the top, and the skirt was large and pink. She picked it out herself. Delilah's was very similar.
Darry asked to walk me down the aisle, and I more than happily agreed. Steve was Soda's best man, and Soda's groomsmen consisted of Ponyboy, Darry, and Two-Bit.
My maid of honor was Chloe and Delilah, my bridesmaids consisted of Marcia and Cherry who I'd reached out to a couple of months before the wedding.
It was true, they were in love and married, but I never would've guessed it. Cherry and Marcia had adopted a little boy, and he was the sweetest thing. He was the same age as Chloe, and they loved playing with each other.
"Do you, Sodapop Patrick Curtis, take, Grace, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"Do you, Gracelyn Elizabeth Matthews, take, Sodapop, to be your lawfully wedded husband?" I smiled as I slid the ring on Soda's finger.
"I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Soda pulled me into a kiss, the gang cheering and whistling in the background.
If I could go back to anytime in my life, I would. I would go back and tell young Grace that everything would work itself out in the end. I'd tell her to just wait a little while longer, and we'd be happy.
And I am. Happy, that is. I can finally say that confidentiality. I am happy.
