Yes, more Rancher Duo.

You can't stop me!! Muahahaha!!

I'm sorry if you don't like Rancher Duo. That would be really really unfortunate. I don't know if that was sarcasm.

I know I'm not making sense, it's nearly Midnight okay-

Yeah, I differed from the prompt a bit just shhhhh
They are either in preschool or Primary School, I can't really tell

Warnings: Bullying, mild self-doubt, a nosebleed, an angry Tango fire demon.

Word Count: 839 (Phew look at that)

~~~
"Ew, look at it!"
Just keep your head down, maybe they'll go away.
"It's trying to ignore me, how rude! Oi, you, bird boy!!! I'm talking to you!!!"
Don't cry, Jimmy. Don't make a fool of yourself. Don't cry, don't!
But the tears still came, and he hated them. He hated himself.
"Aw, is the little chick going to cry? How pathetic! Where's your mummy, bird boy?"
"Sh-shut up!" Jimmy managed to mumble.
He felt a sharp blow in his ribs, and before he knew it he was on the floor, a heavy boot resting on his stomach.
"You'll speak when spoken to, bird boy!"
And then the boy was kicking, and it hurt, it really hurt. But Jimmy was helpless. He really wished Lizzie was there. Lizzie was big and strong and brave, the complete opposite of her little brother. If Lizzie was there, she'd give those bullies what-for! She'd-
"Leave him alone!"
That wasn't Lizzie.
Jimmy had his eyes squeezed shut, so he couldn't see. But that certainly wasn't Lizzie's voice. Lizzie's voice was bold and unfaltering, like she wasn't scared of anything! This voice was nervous, but it was determined. It was scratchy, too, a lovely scratchy that Jimmy could listen to all day.
The bully growled.
"Oh yeah? Why should I?"
"What's he ever done to you?"
The boy standing on Jimmy took a step towards this new enemy, allowing the canary to roll over and get a glimpse of his saviour.
It was a young boy, shorter than Jimmy but about the same age. His bright blonde hair seemed golden in a certain light, matching a tail that flicked back and forth.
And his eyes were bright red.
"Exist." Came the bully's reply.
Ouch.
"Well, I hardly find that a valid reason. Back off, and we can all go our separate ways. Leave him alone."
The bully smirked.
"What if I don't want to? What if I keep doing this." He kicked Jimmy again, in the stomach.
That tail flick there, that was definitely a warning tail flick. That was what a cat's tail did right before it attacked you. Jimmy recognised it easily, he had had many scratches from Lizzie's cat, Buddy.
"I told you to leave him alone. Listen, you don't wanna make me angry, okay?"
That smirk only got wider.
This kick was very deliberately aimed at Jimmy's head, and a trickle of blood escaped the canary's nose.
That was not a good idea on the bully's half.
"Back OFF!!!"
Jimmy wasn't quite sure at which point the blonde boy turned into some kind of demon, but you know.
The tip of the boy's tail was on fire - in fact, the whole boy was on fire, it seemed. The tail was a flame in itself. Those scarlet eyes burned, with fury, with rage. All of those angry emotions.
"SCRAM!" He growled, his voice several times deeper.
And the bullies did scram.
Who can blame them?
Jimmy watched them run, and watched this 'demon' approach him. He curled in on himself, preparing himself for whatever pain he was going to endure.
"Come on."
He didn't expect those words.
"I won't hurt you. Honest. Come on."
And that red-eyed boy was back, with no trace of anything else.
Jimmy didn't know why, but he trusted this demon boy. He had just saved Jimmy. And so he let himself be led by the hand.
~~~

"I'm Tango." The boy introduced himself as he dabbed at Jimmy's bleeding nose with a tissue. "Tango Tek. But just call me Tango."

"James Shadow. But please don't call me James, don't ever call me James. Call me Jimmy. Please."

Tango smiled. It was a lovely smile, an honest smile, a smile that reached to his grubby pointed ears. "Okay, Jimmy."

Jimmy peered over the edge of the treehouse, down at the ground below. There was a question he had to ask.

"Why did you save me?" He blurted out.

Tango blinked at him.

"Like, why did you stand up for me? Me? You had no reason too, you didn't even know me. You could've made life easy for yourself, but you went out of your way to help me, and I don't understand."

Those scarlet eyes looked at him - not at him, into him. They were beautiful, yet unreadable. "You're saying that like you don't think you deserved to be saved."

Jimmy picked at a bit of treebark. "Well, I mean... It's me. Jimmy. I have no friends. I'm weird. I'm not cool, I'm not strong. I'm just... me."

There was a small beat of silence.

"I saved you because it was right. I don't care if you're not cool, for crying out loud. No-one deserves to be treated like that. No-one."

Jimmy was quiet.

Tango continued. "I love weird people. I'm weird, that's what they all tell me. I'll be your friend. I-if you want, that is."

The canary smiled.

"That might just be the best idea I've heard in my life."

It was 20 to Midnight when I started this. Now it's 10 past 1. Jesus Christ.

Welp, I need sleep now.

G'bye!

Also, Tango is 100% right, weird people are the best people! Normal people are boring!

Okay, now I'll sleep.
