Loyalty To You - LL Shadowrot (Fluff?)

Warnings: Death, suicide (but the person who dies respawns and I swear it all turns out alright in the end)

This concept has been in my head since Lizzie's episode first came out all those months ago, the "I knew I could never trust you" one.

This was not intentionally written as a ship, but if you want to interpret it that way, then sure, go ahead.

And I'm really sorry if I got Cleo's pronouns wrong!

"So... That's it, then? You're leaving?"

Cleo gave an emotionless nod. "Yeah,"

"Where are you going to go?"

"Eh, you know." The ginger made a half-hearted gesture with their arm. "Just... Just some friends."

"Oh."

The two were silent for a few moments, before Cleo turned her back. "Bye, then." She muttered over their shoulder as she began to walk.

"Take me with you!"

Cleo froze. They turned appallingly slowly until she was looking Lizzie dead in the eye.

"What?"

Lizzie swallowed. "Take me with you," She repeated, more hesitant this time. "Please." she added.

Cleo blinked at her, and let out a dry laugh. "And why would I do that?"

The shorter brought her gaze to the ground.

"You betrayed me. You took my life. Look at me. I'm red. Red. Because of you."

Lizzie's shoulders tensed.

"Why in the name of Watchers would you think I would take you with me?"

"That wasn't me! Okay?" Lizzie snapped.

Cleo stopped, surprised at the outburst.

"I didn't betray you. I didn't kill you. I was just as horrified as the next man when I saw that death message. It was all him, you know it was, and still you insist on blaming me! I've been nothing but loyal to you since the day we met!"

She exhaled, before speaking in barely a whisper. "What do I need to do to prove myself to you?"

Cleo did not speak. She turned away, and ran a hand through their hair.

"Kill me."

Cleo spun around. "What?!"

The fairy was stood with her arms outstretched, a grave but determined expression on her face. "You heard me. Kill me, Cleo."

"No!" Cleo took a step backwards. "No, I- I can't!"

"Why? Nothing's stopping you." She took a step forward. "If this is what it takes to prove my loyalty, then go ahead. Kill me."

"Lizzie, I can't do that!"

Lizzie studied the taller's face. What had moments before been a scowl of distrust was now staring at her with horrified, desperate eyes.

And then she ran.

"Lizzie!"

The usually harsh voice was higher than normal. It was a voice that was scared. Terrified, even. Lizzie knew that Cleo knew where she was going.

She ran faster than she'd ever run before. One of her wings snagged on a thorny branch, and she winced as she felt it rip. But she didn't care.

She knew she was coming up to the cliff, any second now. So she sped up.

And then there was nothing beneath her feet.

One moment, there was earth. The next moment, nothing but air.

Wind rushed past her face, and she spread her wings out of habit. She knew they wouldn't work with only one side ripped, and even if they did, they weren't big enough to carry her weight.

She ignored the tears forming in the corners of her eyelids, and breathed in through her nose deeply, determined to make the most of this.

It was kind of beautiful, really. In its own, twisted kind of way.

What had at first been dots of green became trees, and the ground came into view, coming closer and closer every second. She braced herself.

[LDShadowlady fell from a high place.]

[Tango] Noo!!

[Smajor1995] Oh no!

[Grian] Boogie??

Cleo ignored the messages popping up in the corner of her vision. She didn't need to look at them to know.

They began to pant heavily but she forced herself to keep running.

They ran and ran and ran.

Until she stepped out from behind a tree, swivelling her head in all directions. And then they saw her.

"Lizzie!"

The fairy looked up dizzily upon hearing her name, and smiled when she saw Cleo. The ginger ran to her, crouching beside her.

"Believe me now?" Lizzie grinned, rubbing her forehead, and was engulfed in a hug.

"You're an idiot!" Cleo laughed.

Lizzie shrugged. "Yeah,"

She gave a cheeky smile, and her newly red eyes sparkled. "Got any food?"
