Pearl's breathing was heavy as she braced herself against a tree, attempting to stand.
But her leg buckled beneath her, making her cry out and fall to the ground once more.
She let out a angry exhale. She had no time for injuries.
Speaking of which, she ran her hand down her face, tracing the fresh scar across her eyelid. Her left eye was still plastered shut with blood.
She couldn't think of any words.
She wanted, needed, to say something, to break the silence. The silence that had been present for far too long.
Pearl always had something to say. Even if there were no other players around, she'd still sing, she'd still talk to....
"Tilly."
She found her words. Well, one word.
"Tilly."
She stood up, ignoring the pain in her leg. She clenched her fists and stared into the distance.
"Tilly!"
Her voice cracked as she spoke the name. She blinked back tears, but one slipped out and ran down her cheek. She sunk to her knees.
"Tilly, baby. You were taken far too soon."
Pearl forced herself to pull her head out of her hands and to look up at the sky. The sun was just setting, spattering the clouds pink with the blood of her love.
"I will find them, Tilly. And when I'm done with them, they won't live to tell the tale."
She sighed shakily.
"I love you, Tilly. You meant the world to me."
I know, I know, I make you wait for ages and then I give you an angst drabble.
I'm sorry, I've had a big dose of writer's block recently and I've been struggling to find motivation. I would really appreciate any suggestions or requests!
There should be a long one coming soon, if I manage to gather the motivation.
This won't post because I'm in a field for a week TwT
