Chapter 10: The Final Bout!(part 2)

Tails and Knuckles began flying towards the shield, which thanks to the help of Shadow and Eggman, was now accessible due to the barrier breaking. Sonic looked at his two friends, departing for their mission. Deep inside, he felt kind of scared at the thought of both pf them getting seriously hurt, or even worse.......death. "Tails, Knuckles, please make it"thought Sonic as he slightly smiled in hope.

Tanjiro looked at Sonic, and by his scent, he could tell what was bothering the blue blur. "Don't worry Sonic, they're gonna be fine, your friends are pretty strong" said Tanjiro, trying to encourage the blue blur. Sonic looked at the Demon Slayer and nodded in approval. "Yeah, thanks man......wait did you just read my mind?!" asked Sonic as he looked in shock. Tanjiro looked at Sonic and began apologizing for interfering with his scent. All Sonic could do was tell him that he wasn't mad at him while he shook his hands nervously.

While that debacle was going on, Tails carried Knuckles while flying, getting closer by second towards the shield. "Jesus...your heavy" said Tails, grunting at the weight of his echidna friend. "Apologies, I will try to lose weight" said Knuckles as he sighed in embarrassment. "No, it's not that, its that you're too muscular for me to carry" said Tails as they neared the purple, tentacle filled shield. "Look tails, we're almost here" said Knuckles as he pointed towards the shield.

"Alright, Knuckles, you dig a hole so we can both enter the shield, got it?" asked Tails as he got a nod of approval from Knuckles. Knuckles clenched his fists together as he prepared to dig through the tentacled. While Knuckles was trying to dig, Tails noticed some of the tentacles start surrounding Knuckles. Knuckles didn't notice, and he was captured by the tentacles, struggling to get out. The tentacles began growing mouths, and began licking the red echidna's fur. 

Knuckles tried o punch his way out of this, like every problem he encountered, bu there was a small issue.....his punches weren't working. The tentacles were too strong, their jelly filled material causing his punches to be mere tickles. "CRAP, IT'S NOT WORKING!!" shouted Knuckles as the tentacles began covering his mouth and eyes, suffocating the echidna. Tails had to do something, he wasn't going to cause the death of his friend. It was time to stop being a coward, and be a man(or fox in this case idk).

Tails got his goo blaster, but instead of shooting goo, he decided to switch it up to something more powerful. Tails previously had created a setting that made him shoot out explosion mines, trying to keep himself busy while Shadow and Eggman were breaking the barrier. Tails finished finalizing the settings, and pointed at one of the tentacles. Tails pulled the trigger, shooting the mine as it landed on one of the tentacles. The tentacles, not having any human brain, didn't react, and one by one, they began exploding, green blood covering Knuckle's face.

Before Knuckles could plunge towards the ground, Tails grabbed his his hands and flew up to the small hole Knuckles had dug up before. "Thanks bud, now I'm not just covered in my own blood, but in tentacle blood" said Knuckles as he slightly smiled at the fox. Tails nodded as a response as Knuckles began continuing digging rapidly. Finally, after what seemed like forever, Knuckles, at the speed of an excavating drill, finally managed to dig a hole large enough to fit two people inside the shield. Tails followed behind as they both entered the shield.

While both Tails and Knuckles were able to dig inside, things weren't looking so good for Shadow. Shadow, still unconscious from his power, hadn't woken up yet. Shinobu didn't want to show it, but she was beginning to fear for the worst. She put two fingers on Shadow's chest, trying to feel the hedgehog's heart beat, which was slowly fading. Amy looked at the hedgehog as she began holding in her tears. Sonic saw his friends looking at Shadow. Sonic dashed onto his friends looking at Shadow.

"Is he ok?" asked Sonic as he knelt down. Shinobu looked at the hedgehog, her smile hiding the fact that she was stressing out. "I have some good and bad news for Shadow. You see, the bad news is that his heart beat is slowly decreasing, meaning if we don't beat Elon Musk in time, he might die. Good news is that I have the cure for his unconsciousness, but it will take time" said Shinobu as she looked at the blue hedgehog. Sonic nodded as he looked at Shadow with sadness. "I'm so sorry that I brought you into this bud..." said Sonic as he looked up, tearing up a little.
