Chapter 8

We finally arrived at Korn's office but throughout the walk there I completely zoned out. There were things Kinn had said to me and just brushed it off or said later we would talk with his Pa.

I knew that once we have this talk I'll feel even worse than yesterday's dinner talk.

One of the bodyguards who was standing outside informed whoever that we had arrived

"Katherine, Please just don't get too upset with Pa alright? I don't want him to get upset like last night" Kinn then said to me after the Bodyguard gave Kinn a nod to go in.

"Ok P'Kinn" I replied to Kinn with a straight face.

Just like I thought, I will definitely be leaving the office upset and it was barely 3 pm in the afternoon.

As we walked into the office Porsche and Kinn walked straight to the end of the office where two doors were wide open leading to what I assumed was an outside balcony.

I walked slowly towards where they went with dread. I had no desire to sit there and listen to the talk they wanted to have. I heard Kinn before we walked in. He didn't want Korn to be upset, but he had no disregard for my feelings. By doing so he continued to feed into my narrative of me being an outcast.

By the time I arrived outside, everyone else was seated. Korn at the head of the table, Chan standing behind him, Kinn and Porsche were sitting together on the right side.

"Katherine dear, please sit next to me. Let's have a talk"

"Yes, sir" I said and walked over to the empty seat beside Korn and sat down

"Katherine, Please remember to call me Pa." he said with a smile and then continued "I also had my assistant plan out the next few days with things you can do before you start school here. You'll also have a week to relax, and get things in order before you start school"

"Yes um.. father. Thank you" I replied, but referring to Korn as my father felt so Foreign. "Is there anything else about the school I need to know about?" i asked

"Yes, well I'm sure you don't know about the school system here Katherine, but you'll only be in school for about five weeks."

"Excuse me but five weeks? How come? " I asked, astonished . We were in the middle of January but somehow we were finishing school up so early? It did not make sense to me

"Nong Katherine, in Thailand we have school from May till February. You will probably have your exams the last couple weeks of the school semester. " Kinn said

"But I am barely transferring in two weeks? Will that not be a disadvantage for me?What about university?" I asked with some worry

In my old school I had barely started my second semester of high school, but in Thailand I would be finishing up? I already applied for my top picks of universities last semester and I have three more months before my 18th birthday. My plan to leave when I turn 18 is still in motion, I do not plan to stay here any longer than I should.

"Do not worry Katherine, the school has been informed and they will give you the materials you would need to help you with final exams. I will also have a tutor for you to catch up but even so do not worry." Korn said to me

"Now about university, well you will be attending the same uni as your brother. I have already talked to the school, and you have been accepted we just need the major you want to be in and you'll be all set" korn conituned

"How have I been accepted? Is there not an application process and deadline? I assume I would be late to both?" I questioned him.

"Nong Katherine, remember Pa and our family are very powerful. We have people we know to get things done. There is no need to worry... alright?" Kinn explained
