Ch. 26

Katherine POV

It was 3 am in the morning, I still wasn't able to sleep, even after Sean left later than usual since his shift ended at 11 but he was in my room until 1 am.

I couldn't sleep, thinking about Del's message and if I should answer or not.

As I continued to lay in bed, I finally came to a decision.

I got up and walked to where I had left my phone charging, and I picked it up.

It was currently 1 pm in Oregon, I knew if i reached out to Del then she could respond to me immediately.

But in that moment I knew I had to face her, I had to reach out and talk to her.

So I sent a quick message,

"Let's video chat when you have the time," I wrote and sent to her.

Immediately after I sent that message, she read it, and I received a video chat call from her.

I was hesitant at first but knew I had to face her, once and for all.

As I answered the call I walked to the couch to sit and turned on the lap, so Del could see me.

"Hi" her voice rang out, I looked at the screen, hesitating to say something but finally getting the courage to.

"Hi Del" i said with a slight smile

Del smiled big "Don't be so shy, we aren't strangers" she said trying to lighten up the mood.

I sighed "No, we aren't, but it's hard to face you right now" i said honestly

"Why is that Kath?"

"Del... just know I wasn't ignoring you because I wanted to but because it was the safest option. " I let out, but not giving more information that I should

"I know Kath..." she said after a moment

"You do?" I asked puzzled

"Yes, and ..." del paused for a moment till she continued "I also know your father is apart of the mafia" she whispered the last part

My eyes widened

"Wait how ?" I asked shocked

Del stayed quiet for a moment. Not saying much until

"When we didn't hear back from you well we decided to ask our family in Thailand if they could find something out but once we gave them your fathers last name did our family warn us to stay away because your father is a big mafia boss...

As I stared at the screen, looking at my best friend, the fear of her and her family getting hurt came back to me again but this time much harder.

Del seemed to know what I was thinking as she quickly spoke up

"Kath my family and I couldn't stay away, we wanted to know if you were okay, how you were, and we hoped you would reach out. We were really worried about you since you left and I'm glad you reached out. No matter you are apart of this family Kath" said del

The tears were starting to run down my face, as much as I was getting used to this place, my new family, and everything else but it wasn't like my home, with my mom, del and her family.

Kinn POV

I sat on the couch,with a glass of whiskey in my hand. I couldn't stop thinking about how Katherine would react to the news. It's been a week and I knew I had to tell her soon, before anyone else.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I felt arms wrapped around my shoulder behind me.

"Hi" I said with a soft smile
