"Come on, what's wrong?" Jack nagged.

Rapunzel smiled and shook her head.

"It's nothing Jack. I'm just..." she sighed. "You know."

"No, not really." He chuckled.

They sat on beach chairs they brought to the roof top of an abandoned apartment building. The building was tall enough to show the magnificent views of the city. They hung out up there often, either sitting and admiring the city, or laying down, admiring the sunset.

Jack saw her gaze. She was not looking at the city or the sunset, but down at her hands.

"Hey." Jack whispered.

Rapunzel didn't look at him at first. She kept her stare down. But then, she saw Jacks hand in her view. His hand asked for hers. After a moment, she smiled sadly and took his hand. She squeezed it tightly.

A few seconds past by.

"We can stay like this for a while... if you want?"

"Yes... yes that would be nice." She sighed.

She rested her head on his shoulder. Although this was a sad moment, Jack softly smiled to himself. It always felt nice being close to Rapunzel.

They shared a few moments of silence as they watched the sun set between the buildings of the city.

"Nothing is fair." Rapunzel grimaced.

"Yeah. I know."

"I just want to be normal."

"Normal?"

"I'm about to sound like a broken record." Rapunzel sighed. "I asked my mother about school again."

"And nothing changed?"

"Of course not."

"She's too protective over you. I don't know how you deal with that." He thought out loud.

"It's suffocating, Jack! She doesn't think I can handle myself. But what is there to handle? Friends? A social life? It's just public school. I hate being homeschooled, it makes me feel like I have no life."

It's easy being Rapunzels friend. It'll be impossible if she went to school there.

"You deserve to have that kind of life. It's not fair that she keeps you so sheltered."

"I know!!" She agreed enthusiastically.

Jack began to remember Hans forcing him to stay still while Gaston burned his chest with an iron. There's so much more to handle. For Jack anyways.

As long as Rapunzel doesn't go to school with him, she'll never know what really happens there. Jack can continue his lies of being safe and happy. If she were to go to school with him, she would know everything. They would have to hide their friendship from everyone, especially Elsa. Elsa would ruin their friendship, as she's ruined all his friendships and prevented new ones from happening. Every single time.

It's easy being Rapunzels friend. It'll be impossible if they went to school together.

"But, at the same time, you know, school isn't that great." He cautioned.

"It'll be great going to school with you. We could go to each other's classes, have lunches together, ditch class. All that cliché stuff." She giggled.

Jack smiled. He wished that was possible.

"You wanna go to school just to ditch class?" He laughed.
