Yeonjun’s POV
I was minding my business—just a peaceful school day, totally normal—when a student ran up to me like he had just survived the apocalypse.
“Hey, Yeonjun and Hyein, the principal wants to see you in his office,” he announced.
“Oh, crap,” I muttered under my breath.
This was it. My funeral. I could already see my mom dramatically passing out when she heard about this.
---
At the Principal’s Office
The principal sat in his chair like a judge about to deliver a life sentence.
“So, what happened?” he asked, eyeing us.
I opened my mouth, ready to craft the best excuse of my life. “Um… Sir, I—”
“I’ll explain,” Hyein interrupted smoothly.
I panicked. I am so done for. She’s going to sell me out.
“Go ahead, Yang Hyein,” the principal said, reading her name tag.
“I entered the classroom, and a student from another class sat in my chair. She got stuck because there was glue on it.”
The principal raised an eyebrow. “And how did that happen?”
Hyein shrugged. “I have no idea, sir.”
I nearly choked. WHAT? Did she just cover for me? Am I dreaming? Is this a prank?
“Alright,” the principal said, rubbing his temples. He called the janitor to replace the chair, and just like that, we walked out scot-free.
I looked at Hyein. “Why didn’t you snitch on me?”
She smirked. “Because now you owe me one. And I always collect my debts.”
That… was terrifying.

Kim Aera’s POV
“WHAT?! The video is all over the internet!?” I screeched.
One of my minions nodded, holding up her phone. “Yeah, and the caption says, ‘karma pays back’.”
I grabbed the phone. The video showed me, stuck to the chair, flailing around like a fish while the entire school laughed. Even worse, it was muted, so people could only guess what I was saying—which made it look even dumber.
“This is the worst day of my life,” I growled.
Another minion piped up, “Who do you think put the glue on the chair?”
“I don’t care! I’m embarrassed, and I’m going to ruin Hyein today,” I declared.
I stormed off to the cafeteria with my squad, armed with a full glass of juice.
---
Hyein’s POV
There I was, enjoying my lunch, minding my own business, when suddenly—
SPLASH!
Cold juice soaked into my hoodie.
I froze. Then slowly—very slowly—turned to see Aera, smirking like a villain in a low-budget drama.
“Oops. Payback, I guess,” she said, flipping her hair dramatically.
I inhaled. Exhaled. Counted to ten. “What. The. Hell. Is. Wrong. With. You?”
Aera giggled. “This isn’t just for the video. It’s for ignoring me earlier. You should be grateful I didn’t slap you.”
I laughed humorlessly. “Wow. Should I give you an award for your generosity?”
Her eyes narrowed, and before I could react, she grabbed another glass—this time, water.
“Oh, no, you don’t,” I said, snatching it out of her hand and throwing it at her face.
GASP!
The entire cafeteria went silent. Aera stood there, soaked, blinking rapidly like a malfunctioning robot.
“You—!” she shrieked, raising her hand to slap me.
But before she could land it—
A hand caught her wrist.

Joshua’s POV
I had been watching the whole thing unfold like a prime-time reality show. And just when Aera raised her hand to slap Hyein, I stepped in.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked coolly.
Aera’s expression immediately changed. “josh, Did you see what she did?” she whined.
I sighed. “Yeah. I also saw you dump juice on her first.”
I turned to Hyein. “Are you okay? Did she hurt you?”
She blinked. “I’m fine. Thanks.”
Then she just walked away like the queen she was.
Aera fumed. “You’re just going to let her leave!?”
“Yeah,” I replied. “She’s clearly better at handling problems than you.”
---
Hyein’s POV
I stormed out of the cafeteria, still fuming. I wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone.
“Hyein!” Sunghoon ran after me, looking concerned. “What happened? Who do I have to fight?”
“Nobody,” I muttered, pushing past him.
Just then, Yeonjun appeared at the school gate. “Where are you going?” he demanded.
I ignored him and kept walking.
“Hey, I was trying to thank you for saving me earlier, but never mind,” he scoffed, falling into step beside me.
I still ignored him.
“Hello? I’m talking to you!” he snapped, grabbing my arm.
Big mistake.
Before I could tell him off, Joshua and Mark showed up.
“Let go, Yeonjun,” Joshua said calmly.
Yeonjun rolled his eyes. “Oh, great. Here comes the hero.”
Joshua stepped forward. “Why do you care?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because Hyein doesn’t seem like she wants to talk to you?” Joshua shot back.
Yeonjun scowled. “This has nothing to do with you.”
“Oh, really?” Joshua smirked. “Then why are you gripping her arm like you’re in some tragic romance drama?”
That made Yeonjun let go instantly. “I was just—”
Before he could finish, I shoved past all of them. “I’m going home before one of you guys starts a sword fight over this.”
Mark chuckled and walked over. “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
I hesitated.
“Don’t be stubborn. You need a ride,” Mark insisted, grabbing my hand and pulling me toward his car.
Yeonjun looked furious.
“Seriously?” he muttered.
As Mark and I walked away, Joshua turned to Yeonjun and sighed dramatically. “Dude. Do you even know what happened today?”
Yeonjun blinked.
Joshua shook his head. “Yeah. Thought so.” Then he walked off, leaving Yeonjun standing there, completely dumbfounded.

Yeonjun’s POV
I stood there for a full minute. Processing.
Then I groaned, running a hand through my hair.
“Karma’s a real bitch,” I muttered.
