"Well," Johnny sighed as they walked through the garden, "I want to move to New York one day, I feel like Salisbury has gotten boring, you know what I mean?"
"I can see where your coming from."
"My mom is very overprotective, we fight A LOT but dad is usually on my side." Johnny looked at Jenni to see if she laughed but her face was sadder than usual. He understood that it's because she never had parents so he switched the topic.
"I go to the library every Friday, to pick up a comic I like and once I stumbled over a book "House of horrors of 1976." That's how I ended up here really. I don't know what to tell you, I'm an average boy, there's nothing special."
"Every person has something special and even if you believe you don't you can't even imagine what I would give to be alive again. More than anything to change this horrible, dirty blue dress."
"You don't like it?"
"Even though it's the only dress I've ever owned, it's dirty and I died in that dress. I hate it."
"Understandable."
"We better get to work now, it's unfair that the others are cleaning and we aren't."
"Your right but you never answered, do you forgive me?"
Jenni smiled, "yes John I do." And they headed back into the house.
The children worked all day and soon the house was done. It was a clean nice house, yes, it still
Looked old but it was clean inside. No more writings "help", cobwebs, mice or cockroaches, the shelves were clean no dust, floors were moped and any dishes were washed all over again just to be sure that they are clean.Everyone sat around exhausted. Some ghost kids began to fall asleep onto the older ones and Miles and Johnny decided it was their cue to leave.
"Right, guys, we are going to go back home, we will come back though!" Miles stood up and tapped Johnny on the shoulder because he was falling asleep. Johnny quickly stood up and said his goodbyes. The boys walked out, climbed over the gate, hopped on their bikes and left. Both their phones were un charged so they couldn't look at the time. All they did was wonder.
"What time do you think it is?"asked Miles.
"I don't know," shrugged Johnny while looking into the distance, " maybe like 8 pm since the sun is setting."
"Maybe." Replied Miles, " never in a million years i would imagine that I would be hanging out with ghosts! That just seems unbelievable! They are actually all very nice and I see you have something going on with Jennifer!"Miles said in a sarcastic voice.
" She prefers Jenni and no no no no we don't have anything going on, only friendship."
"See for yourself but I can tell the way you look at her is different to the look you have to every other girl, just remember you can't fall in love with her, SHES A GODDAMN GHOST, plus she will be gone in 3 more days."
The realisation that Jenni will leave in 3 days made his heart ache but he shrugged it off, "Miles you don't have to lecture me because guess what? I HAVE NO FEELINGS FOR HER! So cut It!"
"Woah alright, and I just realised that we have school tomorrow, how are we supposed to come?"
"OH DAMN IT! Your right it totally slipped my mind."
"We can't just skip school."
"Actually we can."
"We can't, are you nuts?!"
"I think we are all kinda nuts talking to ghosts."
"Johnny we can't skip school, I am not, and I'm not letting you skip for sure."
The boys realised they were already in the area. Soon Miles arrived at his house and Johnny was left to cycle alone. He wondered about tomorrow, there is no way he isn't coming over to the haunted house.
"JOHNNY!" Mrs Wilson exclaimed as soon as Johnny walked through the door.
"Where have you been! You left early morning and left me and your mother worried sick, yes you came before nine but you also left at god knows what time and you haven't picked up none of our calls!" Said Mr Wilson worriedly.
"Calm down guys, I'm fine, I was just with my friends all day—"
" Johnny we need the truth from you," started Mrs Wilson, "Are you doing drugs?"
Johnny burst out laughing from that sentence. He was choking on laughter while his parents stared at him. He was like a mad man. Johnny's stomach started to hurt, so did his nonexistent abs.
"Johnny stop it!" Said his mother teary eyed, "your scaring me!"
"Mom, dad," finally Johnny stoped laughing, "that's the most ridiculous thing you've ever said!"
"Johnathan that's enough! Go to your room!" Said dad aggressively, Mr Wilson was never that angry and for sure never called Johnny "Jonathan". Johnny went passed his parents and did what he was told. He went up to his room quietly. He tucked himself into bed and let everything from todays day sink in like he did the other day. Then fell asleep.
