“WHAT IF I REALLY AM THE BAD GUY?” Bylur whispered and turned his back on her.
“I just want you to tell me the whole truth!” Valouise screamed at him and suddenly, her tears started to form in the corner of her eyes.
“G-Gusto ko malaman k-kung bakit nangyayari ‘to lahat. Gusto ko m-malaman kung sino t-talaga si G-Galina at kung sino k-ka talaga…” Valouise stutters as she tried to stop herself from tearing up.
“Naguguluhan na ako sa mga nangyayari, Bylur!”
“Ako rin…” bulong ni Bylur at yumuko. Palihim siyang bumuntong hininga at tumingin kay Valouise.
“Gulong-gulo na rin ako, Valouise! Sobra! But I couldn't complain because I need to keep you safe!” Bulong ni Bylur at halata sa boses nito ang galit.
“Need? You need to keep me safe? You need to but you don't want to! That's a whole different thing, Bylur.” Valouise said, frustrated. She looked at him with anger in her eyes. Bylur's expression softened and he walked towards her but she immediately took a step away from him.
Her tears started to fall from her eyes and she couldn't stop the bursting emotions she felt.
“Bylur, I didn't hold you accountable for my life! Don't slap it into my face that you are tired of me!” Iyak na saad ni Valouise.
“Val… that's n-not what I mean.” Bylur tried to reach for her hand but she dodged.
Umiiling na nakatingin si Valouise sa lalaki habang patuloy na umiiyak.
“Tanggap ko pa ‘yong katotohanang tinutulungan mo ako kasi nakikita mo si Galina sa akin pero ‘yong tinutulungan mo ako kasi wala kang ibang pagpipilian? Sumusobra na, Bylur!”
“Why does Galina need to be involved in this conversation?” Bylur ran his hand into his hair and frustratedly covered his face.
“Why not? I'm Galina, right? That's how you see me. You see me as the person that I don't even know.” galit na usal ni Valouise at matiim na tinitigan si Bylur habang pinupunasan ang sariling mga luha.
“Pag-aawayan na naman ba natin ‘to? Kakabalik mo lang!”
They fell into silence for quite a while, not moving, not looking at each other and all they could hear was Valouise's small sobs and Bylur's heavy breathing.
“I admit it… the first time I saw you, in Spain. When I bumped into you and you fell, that's when I first saw you. Paglingon ko sa'yo, ang unang pumasok sa isip ko ay si Galina. I was too stunned to go towards you at that time. And when I went home, that's when I found out you are really her.” Bylur whispered. Valouise clinched her first and did her best not to cry out loud.
“I said to myself that I'd let you be. I'd let you live your new life but it's funny how the universe works. We met again and suddenly, everything just shifted.” tumingin si Bylur sa kaniya ngunit agad itong nag-iwas ng tingin.
“But Valouise… I thought this would never turn out bad but I am starting to fall for you—”
Valouise cut him off and looked at him straight to his eyes with anger, “No, Bylur. Hindi mo ako gusto. It's your obsession with Galina that makes you think you like me. It's just an illusion. You're just fooling yourself.”
Masakit. Masakit para kay Valouise na marinig ang mga sinabi nito. Alam na n'yang si Galina ay may halaga para sa binata pero ang marinig ito galing sa mga labi ni Bylur, nasaktan siya nang sobra. Alam n'yang hindi siya dapat makaramdam ng sakit, selos at galit pero hindi n'ya mapigilan ang sarili. She just wants to scream her heart out and if she could, she'll just want to let out her rage.
“Valouise, please…” Bylur pleaded and tried to hold her once again but Valouise stepped away from him.
“C-Can y-you do me a favor, Bylur?” Valouise breathing muttered.
“A-Anything, Valouise. Anything to make you feel better—”
“Leave the hell out of me. Don't show yourself ever again, and let me live my life the way I want to.” Valouise cut him off and looked at him with pure anger in her eyes.
“Valouise, you know I could never do that! You could die!” Bylur gasped and held her shoulders.
“Anything but that? No! No, Valouise.”
“Bylur, please!”
“Not a chance, Valouise! I could never do that. You almost died last night!” Bylur hissed. He then encircled his arms on her, hugging her tight. Valouise tried to push him away but he was hugging her tight.
“Mamatay na kung mamatay! Ayaw na kitang makita!” sigaw ni Valouise at tinalikuran niya ang lalaki.
“Please… Let me protect you. After all of this, I promise to leave. Please!” Bylur begged. They went silent for a while, then Valouise felt her shoulder getting wet.
Napagtanto ni Valouise na nang tumahimik si Bylur, nagsimula na itong umiyak sa balikat n'ya. Lalong humigpit ang yakap ni Bylur sa kaniya at sinubsob ang mukha nito sa balikat ni Valouise. Ang sunod na narinig ni Valouise at ang mga mahinang paghikbi ng binata.
“B-Bylur…” sambit nito.
“Hate m-me, but please… Please, let me stay by your side until I end e-everything. Just let me protect you, please.” bulong nito at humigpit ang yakap nito kay Valouise.
“I beg you…” Bylur desperately whispered.
Valouise tears dropped. She knows that he's desperate to protect her because of Galina. Nasasaktan siya na maisip na gusto lang siyang protektahan ng lalaki dahil lang sa nakikita nito ang taong noon ay minahal n'ya. At lalo siyang nasasaktan na naririnig ang mahihinang hikbi ni Bylur habang nagmamakaawa. At alam n'ya ring marami pang katotohanang tinatago si Bylur sa kaniya.
“B-Bylur, please. Let go—” before she could finish talking, someone knocked on the door. Bylur immediately let go of her. Valouise saw how he wiped his tears hurriedly. Rinig ni Valouise ang malalim nitong pagbugtong hininga bago lumapit sa pinto.
Valouise wiped off her tears and pulled herself together.
Nang binuksan na ni Bylur ito, tumuloy kaagad si Mithran. Nang magtagpo ang mga mata ni Valouise at Mithran, isang matalim at nakakapasong titig ang binigay nito kay Valouise.
“Lord, I want to talk to you. Privately.” Mithran uttered, still madly looking at Valouise.
“You don't need to look at me with those eyes, Sir. Hearing your voice annoys me more than anything.” Inis na sambit ni Valouise at tinalikuran ang dalawa. Agad naman siyang umakyat sa kwarto niya.
