~ My Brothers Best Friend ~

~ First Day of School ~

The middle of the year, not an ideal time to start at a new school. But here they were, Hopper driving El and Will to school on a Monday, her first day.

"Nervous kid?" Hopper asks looking at El. 

"Ye--Yess but i'll be fine" She stuttered as she did when nervous. 

"I'll be near by if you need anything okay?" Will pipped up.

She nodded.

"Why don't you stick with Will and his friends?" Hopper asked confused.

She shook her head. "I want my own group..... plus I don't think I'm wanted" she Mumbled the last part. 

He nodded and pulled up to the school. "Good luck. Have a good day guys!" He yelled as they started walking off. 

"So just go to the office and they should direct you from there" Will motioned his head to the school.

She nodded seeing his party waiting for him. "Thank you" She whispered as she walked off.

El walked into the office.

"H--H--Hii I'm El... Eleanor Hopper" She coughed trying to get rid of jitters. 

The girl at the desk smiled and nodded. "Joyce's step daughter aren't ya?"

El nodded. 

"Here is your schedule, it looks like your grades are all great for the classes you have. Your first class is Advanced science. We don't offer a lot of advance classes since its just middle school but a few boys made a big deal and so you will be in a class with a few select students. room 201"

El nodded just trying to take in all the new information. She grabbed her schedule and walked out. she found room 201 and stood in the door way. Why was she not surprised, She walked in seeing Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Will, and just a few other faces she didn't recognize. She pretended not to see them and walked to the seat in the front closest to the window.

"What is SHE doing here?" Mike whispered over to Will.

"She's actually really smart. Her old school offered a  full advance program and she was in it and still came out with all As" Will Shrugged. 

"Wow. Beauty and Brains" Dustin smirked. 

"Hmmmm... She's not that pretty" Mike rolled his eyes.

"NOT PRETTY?! Look at her Mike" Dustin whispered but still raising his tone. 

Mike rolled his eyes but did glance over. She had mid length blonde hair with slight waves in it. She had it half up and half down. Today she had glasses on. She was wearing a white dress and sunflowers on it. Yeah Okay so... she was pretty he would admit that. But Mike didn't have time for girls more less his best friends sister.

Advance science continued and to say Mike was shocked was an understatement. Every single question she put her hand up to answer. Every single time she was called on, she was right, even one he had wrong. 

The class wrapped up and they all started packing their things. 

"What class do you have next El?" Lucas yelled over.

"Oh... um..." She pulled out her schedule.  "English" 

Lucas nodded. "Cool. So does Max so you'll see her in there, We all have Gym so see you around."

She nodded walking out of the classroom.

El walked into the English room. She glanced around to see if there were any free seats alone. She saw Max waving her hand trying to get her to sit with her, but before she could make any sudden movements a hand grabbed her wrist and dragged her to a seat back of class. 

"Jennifer" The girl stated. She was beautiful. Hair, clothes, and make up done up like she was going out.

"El-- Eleanor, but I go by El" 

"Cool! Your lucky I saved you! You can sit with me and my friends.  You're too pretty to get mixed up in the nerd crowd" She laughed motioning to Max. 

"Ohh--I--Ummm- Thank you, Wills actually my like,,, step brother now though.." She stuttered.

"Oh! That's alright! We can't pick family" She laughed. "Just stick with us and we will guide you through this hell we call school"

El smiled and nodded finally making a friend that wasn't Wills.

Lunch Time.

Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Max all sat at their usual table. The boys hadn't seen El since Science. 

"So Max, how did El make out in English?" Will asked looking around for her. 

"Oh I'm sure she's good, she got taken into the popular's" Max sighed. 

"What?!" Dustin yelled.

"Yeah, Jennifer Hayes grabbed her and sat with her in English, there was a lot of whispering and laughing. 

"Oh well at least she's making friends" Will Shrugged. 

Mike ignored the gossip about Wills new sister. He didn't care in the slightest. He just wanted to continue on planning their next D&D campaign. 

El was introduced to all of Jennifer's friends. She was very happy. Her first day and she was basically at the top of the food chain. At her old school she couldn't even get a hello out of any of them. 

"So..." Jennifer continued. 

"Mark is taken he is mine.... So everyone's pretty fair game" She laughed. 

"Obviously just stay away from the Nerd club over there" Jennifer pointed. 

El looked in the direction assuming she was pointing at Wills group of friends. When she looked over she locked eyes with the one and only Mike Wheeler. He noticed and rolled his eyes looking back at whatever conversation they had going on. 

"Gotcha" El nodded looking back at their conversation.  

After 20 minutes of Jennifer telling her the dos and dont's of being popular, she got up to put her tray in the garbage. As she turned around she ran into someone. 

"ohh-- umm -- Sorry" She mumbled not looking up.

"Yeah watch where your fucking going" Mike said in a tone.

She glanced up meeting his dark eyes surrounded by beautiful freckles. He was defiantly a nerd, the shirt tucked into his pants, the way he stood, but he defiantly had an opinion of her. 

"Oh Mike. Im sorry-- I just was looking for my next class"

"Yeah okay whatever" He mumbled pushing past her.

And that's when it started.

Although they both found each other attractive, in a 12 year old kind of way. They'd never admit it. That's the day the hatred started. Maybe it was the fact that Mike didn't really know how to communicate with a actual girl. Maybe She way too popular now for him to speak too. Maybe it was the nerd vs Popular annoyance at school. But god forbid you had El and Mike in the same area cause all hell would break lose that's for sure. 

Authors Note: I really wanna do a time jump so i can get them together lol sorry. I will expand more on their relationship but i dont like writing relationships that young lol.
