Silence Says What A Thousand Words Can't

Your POV

"Call on your power... but just as it comes to you, switch it out. Imagine it's a coin and right now it's facing heads. Just as your power reaches you FLIP that coin so it's tails" Kali demanded.
You had all gone out into the forest and found a big open area, the perfect spot to practice.
"Now, once that coin has flipped, imagine the person in front of you is coming at you.. you want to push your powers towards them, make them feel, see and hear whatever you want" Kali continued.
Eddie was facing you and El was facing Mike. You felt a slight tingle in your fingers, and glancing down you saw fresh green vines twirling between your thumb and fingers. You smiled whole heartedly at Eddie.
"It's working" you say loudly, feeling so proud of your boyfriend.
"Same here" smiled Mike. You wondered what he was seeing.
"Great, that's so great guys!" Clapped Kali, "carry on practising, do it just like this!"
You practised for hours before calling it quits. Eddie and El collectively managed to make everyone believe they were in a brightly lit cave. You all went exploring in that cave and Eddie had a great laugh at your expense. Apparently touching what you thought were diamonds and rubies but actually rubbing random flowers was a funny sight to see.
You asked Eddie if you could both take a break from the world and go for a walk... just the two of you. You told everyone you'd meet them back at Mikes in a few hours and if anything happened you'd get hold of them.
Eddie took your hand and started walking towards Lovers Lake. After five minutes he threw you on his back and sped towards the Lake. As it was so unexpected it made you feel a little dizzy. He placed you down and had to grab hold of your hand to steady you, all the while laughing at you.
"Wanna go for a dip?" He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively at you.
"I didn't bring anything to get in" you responded... already knowing where this was headed.
"Skinny dip? I haven't got anything either!" He laughed. Wow.. he sounded so carefree. This was your Eddie. You didn't want to skinny dip, but agreed to get down to your underwear. Eddie had already stripped and had dived into the water. He had turned around and was watching you get undressed.
"Pervert!" You shouted in his direction.
"Hurry up!" He yelled back, holding his arms out, wanting you to go to him.
In just your bra and knickers, you started to wade your way through the water towards Eddie. When you reached him, he instantly splashed a huge wave of salty lake water over your face. Sputtering and gagging you splashed him back.. but of course, with his vampire reflexes he evaded it.
"No fair!" You complain. He just laughed and dived under the water.
"Eddie? Eddie?!!" You shout, getting worried.
You feel something brush against your leg and let out the loudest squeal. Eddie broke the surface of the water right in front of you, sending a cascade of water all over your face.
"What is wrong with you?!" You shout at him, as you hold your hand to your chest trying to calm the beating of your heart.
Eddie wraps his arms around you and pulls your head down to his chest and just holds you.
"I love you so much" he whispered as he kissed the top of your head, "I promise you, I will do everything I can to rid Hawkins of evil and come back to you."
You nod and buried your head deeper into his chest. You never want this moment to end. But it could. You know that.
"Hey, Y/N, look at me" he said softly as he takes your chin in his fingers and angles your head up towards him. You find his eyes... those gorgeous purple eyes staring down at you. There's so much love in those eyes, with a touch of hurt lingering behind the surface. He knows just as well as you that you might never have this moment again. It was heartbreaking.
"Can I kiss you?" He whispers.
"Do you really need to ask that?" You respond sarcastically as you throw yourself at him. As your lips meet it's like the world around you just dissolves. There is no one but you and him. It's like a dream... a dream you never want to wake up from. The past year of absolute numbness washes over your brain and you feel a tear trickle down your cheek. You can't lose him again. You really can't.
Eddie breaks your kiss and with his thumb he wipes away the single tear.
"Why are you crying Y/N?" He asks gently.
"I just don't think I'd be able to cope if you didn't come back again. I couldn't do it last time Eddie, I wasn't living... I was just existing. I can't do it again. I know I can't. If I lose you again, I will join you shortly after... I know that's horrible to say.. but I just can't" you sob into him.
"Hey... hey, it's ok. Everything will be ok. You don't need to worry. We have Kali and El... and now my new powers too... surely we'll defeat him.... And if we don't.. we'll I'm sure you won't have to worry about joining me... HE will destroy everything anyway" Eddie replied.
You grunt in agreement... yeah he's right. But oh god do you want this. You want this so so much. Why can't life be simple?
"Wanna dry off and lay down for a while?" He asked.
"Yeah.. I just want to cuddle" you replied.
You both made your way to the waters edge. Having no towels or anything to dry with you decided to lay down your clothes and lay on top of them. You watched as Eddie shook his hair out like a dog after a bath... his hair instantly curled.. you knew that when it dried it would be big and voluminous.. just perfect.
He came and laid down next to you on his side, his head resting on his hand and his other arm wrapped around your stomach.
"Let's see what crazy things we find in the clouds today huh?" He asked.
You looked up towards the sky and instantly found a cloud that resembled a bird.
"What do you see in that one?" You quizzed as you pointed out the cloud in question.
"Ummm... that looks like some sort of alien rabbit" he laughed.
"Oh... I see a bird" you smile at him. This reminded you of the last time you spent with him at Lovers Lake... and again, you couldn't help the foreboding feeling take over.. that this wouldn't happen again.
"What about that one?" You ask as you point towards another cloud.. trying to distract your thoughts.
"That looks like your butt.. big and juicy!" He laughed and growled as he grabbed hold of you and pulled you on top of him for a cuddle.
"Can we stay like this forever?" He asked ever so softly.
"If only..." you reply solemnly.
If this... if that.. life seemed to be full of 'ifs' recently. - IF you don't make it out alive... we will be together, forever.. just in a different place - you keep the thought to yourself, not wanting to ruin the moment.
You lay down on top of Eddie and close your eyes.. just so thankful that you have this moment.. never wanting to move or let go. You and Eddie stay like that for as long as you can, ignoring the crappy world around you and just taking each other in. You're sure you were both thinking the same things.. but you didn't have to speak. Silence says what a thousand words can't.
