Northwind: I'm going to call for a quick ceasefire here, K'dela.

Black: I could keep throwing these balls all day though...

Northwind: Yes, you could, but we've got a question for you.

Black: You're kidding.

Northwind: Well, you and Umbitr. @rosevoltaris wants to know what happened to your parents.

Black: Exactly as I said in one of my chapters. Our dad was injured and thrown off a cliff and our mom was crushed under a building.

Brown: You mentioned them? Did you give any context?

Black: I just told White that-

Blue: *Coughs* Ship.

Black: *Glares* Yes, I gave context, I said they died in a war.

White: I thought that was WW Four... and then I thought that maybe it was a lie when I found out that you were an Impostor...

Black: I didn't specify which war. Technically wasn't lying.

Brown: You weren't telling the truth either... *Sighs* I'm going to give them all some context.

Lime: That would be nice, since you confiscated my tablet and I can't access Wattpad anymore.

Brown: Don't need to. So the condensed version is that several houses were fighting against each other. Our parents got caught in the middle and were holding the Hills of Tamerlein. It's a beautiful sight, especially during the sunset, but the taste is soured because it's where our parents were killed.

Black: *Glaring at Red* You took us every year.

Red: You have to confront your pain in order to heal. Nothing improves if you run from your problem.

White: I hate to do this, but Red's right. I mean, I thought that maybe if I ignored my feelings, I could forget that my mom left me and my dad in pieces, but then the feelings just festered...

Blue: White got angry? Okay, someone report this to a world records office or something-

Brown: Blue, could you shut up for five seconds?

Blue: My record is four, but I might be able to make it. Depends on how nicely you ask.

Brown: Could you please shut up for five seconds?

Blue: *Mimes zipping her mouth shut*

Brown: Thank you. *Clears throat* Anyway, our parents had taken us to the settlement on the hill in the hopes that the battles and the power struggles wouldn't be able to reach us and that we would be able to lay low until the politics worked themselves out.

Black: However, both sides of our families decided to fight over the settlement and... well... it didn't go well. Our father tried to talk rationally to a general from his house and got all four legs broken and was pushed off the cliff.

Brown: Our mother had gotten us out and was flying back for more survivors. Some kids were trapped in a flaming building and she rescued them, but the moment she threw the last one out, the structure collapsed and she died.

White: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Are we talking about people or...?

Black: Simply speaking, your house is basically one of the animal groups. We are naturally born this way. For instance, Umbitr's natural form is a hawk and I'm a wolf. I don't have time to go into the specifics, but it involves genetics, transforming into a secondary form for procreation, and all the great family gatherings.

White: Okay, that's for explaining... but why would they kill one of their own? Your father?

Brown: House of Land and Sky both disapproved of our parents mating, but they did it anyway. We're the results. And it's why Tal'nera's parents would kill me if they- *Claps hand over mouth*

Red: Umbitr... why would they kill you? Is there something that you've been hiding from me?

Brown: N-nothing!

Black: And even if it was something, why the heck would we tell you?

Red: Because they have a right to know that their only child and successor is going to be kidnapped and taken away from them by two traitors against his own will. I might be dead, but I can still hear you idiots yammering nonstop. But I honestly don't care anymore. You're off my hands in one way or another and I can spend the rest of my death waiting for the end of everything.

Brown: *Blinks and breaths a sign of relief* Anyway... the day after they died, we found out that both sides had called for a ceasefire right before the battle, it was just the messengers couldn't get to the generals fast enough. So our parents died for nothing.

Black: And left us with this chakk-head for a teacher.

Red: *Slams fist down on table* Don't you... *Looks away* I'm done with the tennis balls. I'm going to go to quarters. *Stomps off*

Lime: Well that simplifies things.

Northwind: I'll talk with him. I still want him present for the rest of the book. No matter how ill-tempered he is.

Cyan: But... why? Isn't it more simple without him?

Northwind: We aren't going to sink to his level, Cyan.

Yellow: I have to agree with Cyan. Why?

White: Maybe Northwind knows something that we don't? I mean, he did make you guys come back from the dead...

Northwind: No, it's just something to do. Also, I don't expect him to change anytime soon, but give him a couple of centuries and maybe he'll get better.

Orange: Centuries? They'll be dead in centuries.

Northwind: Exactly!

Cyan: That wasn't... that wasn't the answer that I hoped for... Were you joking?

Blue: Come on, Cyan. Catch up! All of them will reunite in the afterlife!

Northwind: Yeah, since I'll be wiping your memories of this incident afterward.

White: So no matter what, any character development that we make here won't be brought back? Yellow and Orange will still hate each other?

Yellow: Please, no, we just made up two chapters ago...

Northwind: I'll think of something...
