"Wonu," Dahyun was on a videocall with Wonwoo, her now long-distance boyfriend.

Dahyun and Wonwoo surprisingly didn't start out on a dating application nor on a random website, which could have caused their current setup now. But instead, they met during high school, where Wonwoo was her senior in the school's mathematics and science oriented program.

"Yes?" Wonwoo paused his game, which he had been streaming for the past few hours.

"I miss you." Dahyun muttered. She had her feet up on her chair and her knees held close to her chest. She had been trying to study, but the thought of wanting to hold Wonwoo both distracted her and broke her heart because she couldn't. She was too far away.

"What?"

The screen moved to the settings. Dahyun could hear the clattering of the keyboard as he lowered down the in-game volume.

"Come again?"

Dahyun bit her tongue, lips puckering at the thought of having to repeat that sentence. She was suddenly embarrassed now that his undivided attention was on her again. Yet after a prolonged silence, she spoke again.

"I miss you." It only took one second for her to avert her gaze.

"Really?" Wonwoo had his cheek rested against his palm as he smiled at her fondly. "I miss you, too."

Dahyun looked at her screen. He still had that same stare. His eyes were always so full of love for her regardless if they were together in person or not, which made her heart ache even more.

Dahyun and Wonwoo met when she was in tenth grade. They belonged to the same learning program, but was put in different sections. They were in two separate floors, yet fate still managed to make their paths cross when their Statistics teacher once asked them to switch classrooms.

Dahyun's class didn't have any objections. It was their vacant period anyways since their professor that time was out in a meeting, and they shared the same teacher, too, probably because the school was understaffed with the amount of 'help wanted' posters they displayed outside, but she couldn't do anything about it. So, she picked up her backpack and walked out of the room with the others.

Just like any other class, hers was noisy as they went down the second floor, but they seemingly met their match when they came face to face with their seniors.

Tall rowdy boys, and short gossiping girls — that was how Dahyun described them when she first laid their eyes on them. But the noise eventually died down and they briskly went past them, mumbling quiet 'hellos' while bowing shallowly before stepping inside the room.

Their classroom was just like theirs. It was a beige-painted room with a locker area and a storage cabinet for all their cleaning supplies at the very back, and a projector stand... without the projector itself in the middle of the room.

Dahyun finally got why they needed to switch rooms. Not every classroom was set up the same way as theirs. But they did have a bigger room and contained more desks than they did, so they freely chose their seats and settled down.

Their professor didn't exactly leave them with any work to do. With that, the others slept, chatted, headed down to the cafeteria to have an early break, and watched a movie on one of their classmates' laptops. Dahyun, on the other hand, was busy reading a book from The Selection series to pass the time until it became noisy outside.

One by one, they took their leave and saw their seniors sitting down along the hall outside their room as they waited for them to vacate the area.
