Kyla looked in her compact mirror and applied her lipgloss on and fixed her lashes. She was excited to be seeing her best friend. Currently she was sitting in the airport waiting for his gate to open. Her ears perked up at the sound of the announcement of the gate opening.

She stood to her feet and walked a little closer. Back home herself and Tyler were attached by the hip. Their friendship first started on the first day of high school, they instantly clicked. As they got older their friendship turned a little flirty but nothing to crazy.

When she moved he was the only person she knew she was going to miss. But they promised not to let the distance between them change their dynamic.

A moment later, a familiar tall figure came into view. Tyler was tall but not crazy tall, he was lightskin with locs that trailed over his face ever so often. She squealed and ran over to hug him, he gave her the tightest hug.

"Damn I've missed you." he mumbled as he pecked her lips.

"I've missed you too, come on I know you're hungry." she said as he he leaned down to grab his bag. There was a chinese restaurant nearby which was both of their favourites so she drove over.

Kyla put the blunt out and they made their way back into the house. After grabbing a few snacks they headed up to her room. She locked the door before stripping and getting into bed.

Tyler did the exact same, he handed the remote control over to her while he got comfortable. He closed his eyes feeling his high kick in. While one hand was tucked behind his head the other sat between her legs.

"I'm too damn tired." he mumbled while his hand rubbed her thigh.

Once she found something to watch, Kyla laid down beside him with her head on his chest. Tyler secure his arms around her waist before pulling her over into him.

He poked his lips out making her laugh, she leaned down and kissed him. His hands found their way down to her ass, he squeezed each cheek.

Tyler flipped them over so she was flat on her back and he was hovering over her. "Take these off."

"No I'm not ready for that Ty." she mumbled, Tyler instantly sat up feeling like he'd pushed her.

"Shit I'm sorry." he said sincerely, he simply thought Kyla liked him as much as he liked her.

"Can we just sleep?" she mumbled and he nodded.

Kyla rolled over now feeling overwhelmed. She hated the way she felt about herself. And the last thing she wanted is to be intimate with someone, the thought had barley crossed her mind.

Hours later, Kyla sat at the kitchen island eating her dinner. The doorbell rang, Zara jogged downstairs and opened the door. Kyla looked up to see Jaylen walking in.

"Wassup Babygirl." Jaylen kissed my head, Zara turned her nose up for some reason.

"Problem?" I asked, she waved me off and went upstairs.

"What is up with y'all?" Jaylen frowned, he washed his hands before taking a seat.

"We're always like that, you know that Jay." she said before taking a bite of her pizza.

"Where's ya lil friend?" Jaylen asked, he grabbed a slice of pizza for himself before looking around the downstairs area.

"He's visiting some family that live down here." she said keeping it short and sweet.

When in reality Tyler had gone to see a friend. Kyla felt as if things were a little awkward so he decided to give her a little time alone.

"Mhm what's going on between y'all?" Jaylen asked knowing there was more to it.

"We're just friends." she shrugged, Jaylen was crazy and she knew that. So the last thing she planned on was telling him the truth.

"You know where I'm at if you wanna talk?" he said and Kyla nodded in confirmation.

Jaylen stood to his feet and grabbed another slice of pizza, "I'll see you later."

"You came here to steal my food and leave?"

"Always." he kissed her cheek and left.

Kyla shook her head before finishing her food. She cleaned up the mess and then got Blu fed before letting him outside to handle his business. Her phone started ringing, it was Tyler of course.

She let out a breath before answering, "Hey."

"Hey, it's cool if I come back?"

"Tyler stop being stupid yes you can come back." Kyla said, she hated the awkwardness. Tyler felt as if he'd been rejected and Kyla felt too anxious to properly address it.

She hung up and ran her hands down her face. Twenty minutes later Tyler knocked on the door. Since it was fairly late they decided to just go to bed.

Kyla was finished with her hygiene routine first so she got into bed and put something on the tv for them to watch until they fell asleep. Tyler got into bed next to her leaving a gap between them.

"I'm sorry about earlier okay...I just didn't think you saw me like that." Kyla shrugged, she knew what she wanted to say but just couldn't put it into words.

"Don't say sorry and what do you mean? You thought I wasn't attracted to you or something?" he frowned, Tyler had always had a little crush on her but tried to brush it off for the sake of their friendship.

"Well yeah kind of."

"Kyla I've always thought you're beautiful. And I'm sorry for making you feel uncomfortable earlier." he said, Tyler was hoping her next response would be that he didn't make her uncomfortable.

"It's fine." she said, that tugged on his heart strings, he'd made her uncomfortable. He said goodnight and laid down, Kyla did the same. While Kyla fell asleep Tyler laid there deep in thought.
