Chapter 36- Labor Day Pt2

That night I sneak out of my bedroom window, Pea is waiting for me
"Where's your bike?" I ask confused to why I can't see it
"I've come in Fang's truck, it's down the road, couldn't risk anyone hearing it" I nod understanding. Pea takes my hand and I see the others waiting
"Ok let's go" Jug says to Fangs as I get into the bed of the truck with Pea
"So what's the plan then?" I ask Toni
"We're going to park up and wait, scope the area first"
"Then we will get Hot Dog and leave" Cheryl finishes moving her bow and arrows over.
We wait for some time, an hour to be exact, the whole time we can hear Hot Dog crying and whimpering. Toni then begins to get bored
"It's been an hour and no sign of anyone"
"Alright, Sweet Pea? you guys keep look out" Jug starts to walk away from the truck, Cheryl sits on the roof with her bow and arrows at the ready, while I pull down the side of the truck for Hot Dog to climb up. We watch as Jug goes over to the dog and lets him loose, but suddenly all the lights turn on and out walks Penny Peabody with Malachai
"Hiya Jonesy. Welcome back to the Southside" Betty begins to move forward, but Cheryl ctaches her
"Cheryl"
"Not now cousin"
"Betty just hang on a moment" I say watching the scene unfold before us
"I thought this mangy mutt might get you to show up. We need to talk"
"No we don't Penny. I'm here for the dog"
"If you didn't want trouble, why have you both been sending spies all summer trying to get in our business. Back off, unless you want a replay of riot night" Penny walks in front off Jughead
"Yeah I've been sending scouts. I was looking for Hot Dog"
"This wasn't meant to happen" I nervously whisper to no one in particular. I watch Jughead turn around and walk back towards us, but is stopped in his tracks
"Your Jacket. The Southside isn't yours anymore. Take it off"
"Really Penny? a jacket?"
"Why couldn't this bitch just stay away?" I sigh
"We could always take it off your dead limp body. I also heard ponytail is a Serpent now, your Northside Queen, maybe we'll go after her next?" Penny steps closer
"Cheryl get your bow ready, just in case" Toni nervously shifts
"Fine you can have the jacket as long as you and the Ghoulies stay out of the Northside"
"Oh you don't get to make demands" Malachai now steps forward with the bat with nails. Cheryl then shoots Malachai in the shoulder making Jug shout at her
"Told you I was in the mood for some Hell raising"
"That's it. Kill them all"
"Cheryl aim your next arrow between Penny's eyes" Penny puts her hand up to stop the Ghoulies "take one step closer she'll release that arrow. Cheryl doesn't miss"
"Congratulations you just made the Northside fair game. See you soon Jonesy" Jug starts walking back to us
"Hey boy, come here" I take the lead from Jug and get into the back of the truck with Hot Dog. Fangs quickly drives off.

The next morning I run down the stairs with Archie, Vegas and Hot Dog are sat next to each other, to say mom and dad were surprised to find another dog in the house, is a bit of an understatement. Although dad said it was fine for him to stay
"Are you ready Archie?" mom asks
"Hey come here" Arch gets down on to the floor to pet Vegas, it's as if he's given up "be a good boy ok? look after Hot Dog today" we leave Vegas and Hot Dog to go to the courtroom. Again it's super hot. I sit in between Pea and dad
"Your honor, we haven't made a decision. We're deadlocked six for six and it's not gonna change"
"What happens now?" I ask dad 
"So be it" the Judge says looking at the jury "the jury is dismissed. Thank you for your services" the jury all get up and leave the room
"Your honor. In lieu of another trial the state is prepared to offer a deal for a lesser sentence. Instead of prison time served, 2 years in juvenile detention, if Mr Andrews pleads guilty to the crimes of manslaughter"
"Your honor" Archie's mum stands up but is cut off by Archie
"I'll take the deal"
"What" I say shocked, Pea takes my hand in his
"No Archie" everyone else says
"Archie. We all know you didn't do it. We all know who's made this story up and who should actually be behind bars. Please Archie don't do this" I plead looking at my brother
"I can't put you all through this again. The stress it's had on all of you"Archie looks around the room at all of his friends. I give him pleading eyes to say not to do this "your honor I accept the deal"
"No" I almost scram, Pea holds my hand even tighter in his. The tears are already starting to fall
"Son just so I have it straight even though it's legally within your rights, your ignoring the advice from your council, your own mother"
"Yes. Your honor. I'm guilty"
"Mr Andrews the court accepts your plea of guilty. You'll be taken directly from the courthouse to the leopold and loeb juvenile detention centre where you will serve out your sentence beginning immediately. This court is adjourned" I watch as Archie and mom hug, before I get to hug him police begin to remove his from the courtroom
"This can't be happening" I cry as Pea holds me
"No he didn't do anything you can't take him away he's innocent" Veronica yells trying to get to him. I watch as he's removed from the court room
"Serpents will have his back" Pea tries to comfort me
"What if the Ghoulies get to him first?"
"Then we will have some Ghoulie heads to knock"

Pea comes home with dad, mom and I. When we open the door Vegas comes rushing over to us sniffing around trying to find Archie, Hot Dog runs over to Pea who pets him. I look around with sad eyes, but when Vegas starts to cry and whimper I crouch down to the floor and cry into his fur. My twin brother is in juvie and it's all because of Mr Lodge. I hate him with ever part of my soul and I'll do anting to help Archie get out.
