Third Person POV

Amidst the chaos in Liyue, [Reader] was also having troubles of her own.

She thought it was weird when she heard a soft and angelic voice humming a melodic tune. The sweet lullaby was accompanied by small hands gently rubbing her cheeks and played with her hair, alluring her to wake up and see who showered her with this much affection. She also felt a soft and warm cushion under her head, realizing it was most likely someone's lap that she was laying on.

But despite the comfort she was feeling, [Reader] couldn't give herself the confidence to open her eyes, knowing full well who's voice it belonged to. She knew who would be the only one to hum the same tune.

It was someone who she always wishes to see in her dreams which hardly happens due to her nightmares.

Most times she would wake up from her taunting nightmares yet she'd recover enough to act normal and carefree the whole day. But even her inner demons knew where to hit her where it hurts.

"You've always had soft hair."

[Reader] flinched slightly totally not expecting the person to stop humming and speak to her instead.

Still closing her eyes, she clenched her jaw and closed her palm tightly to hold herself back from taking a peek. How dare her nightmares use someone so innocent just to break her heart?

"Don't do that. Your face will hurt if you wear a sour expression."

Expecting [Reader] to respond, they were met with complete silence instead.

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

The relaxing touch on her face halted and [Reader] could hear a hint of disappointment in their voice.

"Are you mad at me?"

"Why aren't you opening your eyes?"

"Open them."
