One Year Later

I burst through the doors of the Umbrella Academy and ran down the street, my eyes welling with tears. Five flung open the doors behind me. He was never going to catch me on foot so he spatial jumped in front of me. He held his hands out in front of him blocking my path. "Bonnie, wait—"

"It's Number Eight!" I tried yelling back with the venom I felt but my voice was giving out.

"I can explain. It's not what it looks like. You're the only one for me and—"

"Save your breath." I scoffed. "I'm going back to Scotland," I announced. "There's nothing here for me." Things were simpler there. No heart break. I choked on a cry as I spoke. I mirrored Five then opened a portal behind me.

"Bonnie, no! There's no way you can spatial jump that long of a distance! You know that."

"Well we'll see in a bit won't we." I waved and fell backwards into the portal with my eyes shut. I was afraid too but the faster I could get away the better.

He frantically dived to either pull me back or at least take him with me but he fell short. "Bonnie! No! Please no!—" Five mind spoke but it was cut off as I passed through the portal. It never used to cut out like that.

"Odd," I thought to myself as I changed back to my usual form. I had slowly lowered myself down from my backwards fall and laid there on the dusty ground with my eyes still closed, mentally preparing myself for what I was about to see. I wasn't a hundred percent positive that I'd made it to Scotland so I didn't know what I'd find but I definitely wasn't expecting anything like this...

••••

"Where did you go?" he said, staring at the spot I once was. There's no way I made it to Scotland, he would know. Number Five had watched the way that I fell through the portal. He was going to try to copy me. It might put him out at the same place I went to he figured. Hopefully. Eh, worth a shot.

He fretfully ground his teeth and placed his feet where mine last stood and got ready to fall backwards with his eyes shut in a copy. He however was not good with trust falls of any sort, especially knowing that there would be no one but the air to catch him.

"Here goes nothing," Five murmured. He tightly shut his eyes and fell backwards but unlike me he wasn't as graceful and couldn't keep himself from flailing his arms in the air trying to grasp at something to catch him. He stood up from the dirty, cracked road and brushed himself off then looked around. "Not what I was expecting."

"Bonnie!.. Vanya!.. Ben!.. Dad!.. Anyone!..." He took a frantic, shaky breath. "Where'd you go Bonnie?" Five looked around at his new surroundings but found no one, only rubble, fire... a world destroyed. "Or... should I be asking when?"

He clasped his tight fists and tried to time travel back. A blue glow surrounded his hands then died out. He tried again... Nothing. "Shit," he exhaled then collapsed to his knees and watched what was left of his home burn. He heard a whoosh. "Bonnie?" He stood up but there was no one there. Five sighed, his heart hurting a little more, then sat back down.

••••

"Okay wait, explain it to me again. I'm not following," One asked.

Six, who had seen the entire thing go down massaged his temples in annoyance. "All right one last time from the top... Eighty thought she caught Five cheating on her with some waitress or someone and stormed out. Then she came back to confront him about it, sort things out. She saw him doing all of these equations to go back in time to fix it instead."
