Gill "So, uh, my adoring, beautiful, amazing wife. I've been thinkin' a lot—"

"Uh, oh." I side smiled at him.

"Ha ha. Funny," he replied in a monotone voice. "But this is... this is serious." I straightened my posture when I heard his shaky sigh. "I, uh, feel like it's only right that I... I feel like I have an obligation to—"

"You feel like you should fight in the Korean War." I sighed.

He looked down and nodded his head. "Y-yeah. But if you don't want me to then I won't. I'll stay here. That's that. I adore you and I hate the thought of being away from you for three years and—"

"Gill, it's all right." I hugged him. "I understand. Hate the idea of being away from you that long too but you need to do what you think you need to do."

"I can stay here. With you." Gilligan rested his chin on top on my head.

"You'd never forgive yourself. You should go. I'll be waiting for your letters." I sadly chuckled and stroked his hair.

"Thank you." He kissed my hair.

"I adore you."

"I adore you mostest—"

"Just say you adore me too." I laughed.

"But where's the fun in that?" Gill chuckled back. He rolled his eyes. "I adore you too. And when I come home we're makin' up for all those lost nights together so you better take care of yourself." We laughed and I lightly pressed my lips to his.

"So you've got a month right?"

"Right."

"We're goin' on a road trip." I grinned.

—————

"Ronnnnyyy," Gill groaned. "We've been on the road for forever. I'm gonna die before we get there."

I laughed. "Eight hours. And we're almost there, so hushpuppy." He grumbled. I chuckled and took his hand and kissed it. He took our laced hands and returned it.

An hour later I ran my fingers through his brown hair. "We're here." I softly spoke with a kiss on the head to wake him up.

He deeply inhaled then leaned into my touch. Gill turned his stare to the starry night sky. "'N where is "here" exactly?"

"Aléatoire Island," I replied with a grin.

"'N why are we here?" He sat up with a small smile.

"Well, we've got a month to do a mini road trip 'n whit better place to start than a random island, richt?" I giggled.

"I love you." He grinned then kissed me on the cheek and opened the door. He stepped out to be met with cool sand under his feet. He gave a toothy smile as he half-skipped to the other side to swoop me out of the driver's seat into a slow sway in front of the headlights.

"You never waste time do you?" I laughed.

"Like you said, we've only got a month. I need to make the most of it. We're only gonna be in the '50s for ten years after all." He grinned. I rolled my eyes with his matching smile.

"Six years were torture without you. You gotta write me back as soon as you get a letter, okay?"

"Of course. And you've gotta do the same, all right?"
