my phone started ringing and i picked it up but before i got the chance to answer it, it was snatched away 

"hey-"

"you cant answer it later?" aiden whined

i smiled. "fine"

i turned back to the movie and not even a second later it was ringing again 

"okay i need to answer it" i said quickly 

i only have my mother, grandma, harper, aiden, and scarlet's number

obviously it wasnt scarlet and aiden but me, harper and mama made a rule that if its important always call more than once. if its not important then just wait til we call back as we might be busy 

"wha-"

"no, aiden, seriously give it back" i hissed 

she slowly handed me my phone and i turned it over; it was harper. i accepted the call and pressed the phone against my ear, my heart pumping faster in nervousness

"hello?" i spoke 

in response i got a sniffle. i immediately i was filled with immense worry

"mama got shot, she in the hospital right now. they said she's in a coma. fortunately there's a 55% chance she might make it back to us" she sobbed 

my heart stopped and tears rolled down my cheek as i got up from the sofa 

"im on my way" i said as strongly as i could 

"bye" she sniffled once more before hanging up 

"who was that?" scarlet asked 

"my sister. mama got shot" 

the door to mama's room opened and a woman in a doctor's coat came out. she looked up, a exhausted look stretched across her face 

"miss williams?" she called out and looked around 

i shot up from my seat as did everyone else 

scarlet and aiden refused to just drop me off and leave and i didnt feel like arguing so i just let them tag along 

"thats us" i spoke, my voice wavering 

she smiled weakly. "okay so the surgery was a success but unfortunately she had a stroke shortly after which sent her into a coma. sadly i have to report that her risk of surviving this is now lowered to a 35% chance-"

harper let out a loud sob while i covered my mouth, tears streaming down my face as my heart broke into pieces. i felt two hands grabbed mine and looked at both aiden and scarlet with a blurry vision 

the lady cleared her throat and i looked back at her. she offered me a sympathetic smile 

"there's more..."

oh God theres more?!

"if  she does wake up from this, hopefully she will, she will have amnesia . its not determined if it will be short term or long term. she will also have other issues therefore she'll need a caregiver"

i felt like screaming my lungs out 

i gulped, "miss-"

everyone's head snapped to look at me. i felt a squeeze on my hand 

"misty is fine" she smiled 

"um misty.. how did this happen? what happened? just yesterday.. she.. she was in my room and we were t-talking" i choked out 

"well the person that brought her in reported that they were hanging out for their breaks and while at the coffee shop there was a robbery. she was shot near her heart and fell to the floor, banging her head in the process as no one was fast enough to catch her" she explained. 

"w-who was it?" i pushed

"the person who reported it had minor injures that they could just slap a band aid on so they left. but she looked to be a fashion designer or something of the sort" she shrugged. 

"oh- th-thank you" i sniffled 

i assume she's talking about the girl that has a crush on mama

"no problem" she nod 

"can we see her?" harper asked after some seconds

harper looked torn, her eyes blood shot red and lip wobbling as if she was about to cry again 

"family and partners only" she said and smiled 

"thank you"

"youre welcome" she nod once more before walking off 

i looked back at aiden and scarlet. they nod in understanding 

"be careful" scarlet whispered 

"yeah.. are you guys leaving?"

"of course not. we'll be out here" aiden said as if she was offended that i even thought that 

any other time i would giggle at her being offended but i couldnt even force up a laugh

i felt like puking 

"alright" i nod. my eyes fluttered shut as i felt lips press against mine and my stomach lit with butterflies 

scarlet pulled back and smiled then sat down. i looked at aiden expectantly 

her eyes widen. "oh-"

she rushed to her feet and pressed her lips against mine softly. i sighed at the comfort i felt 

the safeness i felt
