CONTINUING FLASHBACK

third person pov

once the old white lady has opened the door with her phone in her other hand, 911 already ready in case she needed to call, aiden and scarlet ran into the house

they checked each room except one room

their hearts, even the old lady, pounded unhealthy fast as they knew this door would be mean something

it would either mean charlotte's alive or dead and everyone did a quick prayer that she was alive

scarlet breathed out a sigh, tears building in her eyes and she pushed open the door

a sob tore from her throat, aiden's heart stopped beating for a quick second and the lady pressed the green button her phone for 911

"911 what is your emergency?"

"a women has overdosed"

there laid charlotte on the bed, the empty liquor bottle hanging loosely from her hand. her eyes were rolled back and white foam seeping from her plump lips

[i never actually seen an overdose and dont want to see but from other books and a little from the show 'shameless' i'd assume this is what an overdose would look like so if someone in ur fam looks like this dont assume they overdosed immediately okay?]

aiden and scarlet ran over to charlotte and aiden took the bottle from her hand

her heart breaking as she knew her girl did this to herself

she just couldnt understand why

why be so selfish and try to take yourself away from us like this? dont you care there's people who actually love you and want you here?

aiden thought

"wake up please wake up" scarlet cried, slapping charlotte on the face lightly

yet charlotte didnt move

"what is her race, maam" the operator asked the neighbor

her eyes widen.

"what?! what do you mean what is her race?!" she hissed

"like is she white or colored?" he asked slowly

the black women in the seat beside him looked at him oddly

"she's black!" the old lady fumed

"okay maam there isnt a ambulance close but dont worry, we see this happen with blacks all the time" he ended the call

margot, the old lady ears steamed as she stared down at her phone

she couldnt understand what this world had come to but then again, back in her day it was no better

"what did the police say?" aiden asked with red rimmed eyes trying not to cry

cant say the same for scarlet who was literally on her knee's at this point

"uh hold on" margot said and dialed 911 again.

the same operator from before answered

"911 what is your emergency?"

margot cleared her throat and made her voice as squeaky as possible

"there's a women overdosed"

"whats her race?" he asked robotically

he was used to it as he asked everyone that called what was the race.

he was a young guy in his 20's that grew up to hate anyone outside of white people.

all the bad things that were put in his ears told him that colored people deserved to die therefore getting a job as a operator would help kill them off by ignoring if they were in danger

"she's a white women in her 20's" margot said, her voice still squeaky

"okay maam a ambulance is on its way" he rushed out, "while waiting lower the person to the floor, make sure she is still breathing and stay with her do not leave her side. do you need me to stay on the phone with you for support as you wait for medical help?"

"no thank you" margot said before hanging up

she told the girls what to do and they did it immediately. aiden checked charlotte's pulse and it was faint but nonetheless there

scarlet slapped her harder than the baby taps she had been giving her

charlotte eyes snapped open before fluttering back shut

"NO!" scarlet screamed, "stay awake! keep those pretty eyes open for me" she hissed

charlotte moaned, her eyes rolling back but coming back forward as she felt another stinging pain on her cheek

margot heart broke for the dark skin girl as she watched her keep getting slapped like a tortilla getting thrown on the skillet

when they had gotten to the hospital charlotte had a seizure due to all the drugs she had taken thus putting her in a coma

the next day scarlet and aiden were informed that her survival rate was a 85% chance

they were ecstatic
