Chapter 11 ~ The Free will of Fire

Third Person Pov:

It's been 3 hours since the ninja started the fight with corrupted Kai. The boys were on the ground tired and low on energy. Catching their breaths while Nya fights Kai to at least hold him off until her friends get enough energy to fight again. White Rabbit came back from her cottage and brought water for them since they felt dehydrated. So far, Kai has been breaking free from corruption each hit from Lloyd's and Jay's power. Not only is his eye back to normal, but his left shoulder, back, right thigh and the left side of his mouth. Unfortunately, that was all they could hit on him and he was still unconscious. Nya tried to use her water to wake him. Sadly it had no affect, "Kai!! Wake up, please!! The others can't keep up anymore!!", she yells to him, hit after hit. Water drips down his face, eyes looking as if he's crying. Nya's eyes widen. Kai was crying... He could hear every word!

He just couldn't wake up because the corruption was taking too much of his energy to even move himself, but his body was still moving under the corruptions control. He wanted to wake up. He wanted to see his friends again. See Nya again. His sister... She's in pain. She want her brother back, but can't find the strength to even lift his eye open.

"Nya...", she turns to see Lloyd standing summoning his power. "Let me try one more time!" He creates a ball of energy and makes it bigger than himself above him. The corrupted Kai growls and runs at him to stop him. Nya looked at Kai gasping. She summoned water and splashed him which caused him to loose a bit of his balance. He falls to his knees and the next thing he knew. A giant ball of energy was launched in front of him. As it hits him, the corruption fades but it screeches in agony. Nya and the others look away blocking their eyes to prevent being blinded by the light. Once the light fades, both Kai and Lloyd fall to the ground on their stomachs as their energy run low and pass out of exhaustion. "Kai!!", Cole, Nya and Rabbit say at the say time as they run to him. "Lloyd! Are you ok?!", Jay questions in panic, turning him to lay on his back as Zane scans him. "He's fine. Just unconscious. He used up too much of his elemental powers to free Kai." They both look to the other three as they check on Kai. His tears stained his cheeks and seemed really tired for being corrupted. Surprising them because everyone else that was corrupted weren't tired. Could be because Kai had different rank in power than the other people.

Rabbit looks to Nya, "Let's take them back to my place. You all need to rest" Nya nods silently as Cole picks up Kai bridal style. Zane carries Lloyd on his back and they all begin to walk. No one spoke once in worry and out of it. Their hairs were a mess and had dirt all over their outfits. Except for Kai and White Rabbit since she wasn't in the fight and the corruption blocked Kai from even touching anything when it covered his whole body. They make it to the young woman's cottage and head inside. Another day of trouble done. They weren't able to find any others corrupted, not even Clouse. Cole softly places Kai in his bed in the guest he room he stayed in before. Not moving one bit. Infact you can hardly see his stomach rising as he breathes. You can't even hear him breathe. Cole slowly places his ear against Kai's chest, listening closely to hear a heartbeat. It sounded so faint. So quiet. Too quiet for Cole's comfort.

But he's going to have to wait for it to beat faster because of how tired and out of it his crush was. He takes of Kai's shoes with ease and places them down by the edge of the bed as he takes his off as well and lays in the bed with him. Spooning Kai in his arms, moving the younger male's head onto his own chest. Now realizing how cold Kai felt. His warmth was gone. He could only feel the smallest ember spark in him. Cole sighs of exhaustion and kisses Kai's head now resting peacefully.

It is now the next morning and Kai groans as he regains enough energy to finally open his eyes. That's right... He couldn't open his eyes after what happened yesterday. Was it yesterday? That's when he saved Cole from Morro, right? Wasn't there something else? He couldn't remember. Once opened his eyes  he saw that someone was in front of him. He looked up and saw Cole with his hair all over the place. Kai blinked for a moment before blushing. A small smile formed on Kai's lips as he closed his eyes in places his face deeper onto his chest. He felt blessed by the FSM that he got to lay in Cole's arms. Like a dream came true.  He then felt the older male take his arm of him and rubs his own eye as he yawns. Kai giggles at how funny he looked with messy hair. "Kai...?", he blinks, looking up to see Cole have his eyes open in a lazy manner. Cole then blinks and blushes of embarrassment, "Ah!! Sorry!! I just didn't have anywhere else to sleep!! I'm sorry, did make you feel uncomfortable?? I shouldn't have done that!!", Cole freaks as he finally goes silent. Listening to Kai's shushing his softly. Once Kai stops he smiles softly with a bit of blush on his cheeks, "It's alright Cole. You didn't make me uncomfortable or anything. Just try not to yell to loud, we don't want the others to be mad", he whispers as he sits up with Cole.

"You mean... You're okay laying with me?", he sounded quite hopeful. Kai looked away and blushed, as red as his short dress, as he nods slowly trying not to seem too embarrassed. Cole smiles softly while on the inside he's jumping of joy. Kai's blush fades along with his smile, now realizing he didn't know how he got here. He turns to the earth ninja, "Hey, Cole...?" "What's up, Kai?" "What... What happened yesterday? I saved you from Morro and I think I left you guys, but.... What happened after that?" Cole blinks in shock. Kai doesn't remember anything before he was fully corrupted??, he thought. Cole clears his throat and speaks, "You we're corrupted Kai. Don't you remember before you were fully corrupted at least?" The red ninja's went wide in fear. Cole could've sworn he went pale for a minute. So he decided to try his best to calm him, "Don't worry...", Kai looks up, eyes calm but fear still in them, "You didn't hurt anyone" A lie. "We tried to save you when we found you. Are you feeling better by the way? I forgot to ask" Kai sighed as he calmed himself and brought enough courage to look at Cole again with a thankful smile. "Yeah... Thank you so much Cole."

Cole blushed at the praise and places an arm on his neck. Maybe now's my chance...., he thought. A quiet sigh came out of the black ninja's mouth. He grabbed Kai's hand. He looked up to Cole in confusion, "Cole? Is there something wrong?" The master of earth struggles to find his words as he begins to talk after a few minutes, "K-Kai...? I actually have something to tell you..." "What is it?" "I.... Kai, you.... I mean...", a disappointed grumble was made.

Kai was becoming more confused each time Cole stuttered. "I wanted to say that I... I... Ugh! I like you Kai! I've always like you since I turned into a ghost! You were always there for me when I wasn't able to feel warmth... But you gave me that. It made me feel like I wasn't even a ghost to begin with. Will you, please, go out with me?", he blurted out his confession and closed his eyes, afraid to know his answer. Two warm hands cupped his face as he opened his eyes and relaxed. His forest green eyes meeting Kai's bright amber eyes. A certain amount of blush was seen on the master of fire's face. Cole blinked seeing Kai move closer to his face at a slow pace. He did the same. Soon their lips met. So much passion was made in that kiss. Cole grabbed Kai's right hand. He bit his bottom lip as a sign and the younger male understood. He opened his mouth and let Cole to enter with his tongue. A moan was heard from Kai as Cole continues exploring the inside of the wet cavern. After a few moments of bliss, they broke they kiss for air. Kai wraps his arms around Cole and hugs him tightly, "I do...", he whispers, finally replying to Cole's question. He wraps his arms around Kai's waist and smiles in happiness.

They went downstairs into the kitchen to see White Rabbit and Zane, both making breakfast. Rabbit gasped and hugged Kai in tears apologizing, non-stop. Kai kept telling her it was fine. Cole and Zane both chuckled at the two. The black ninja smiled, glad to have the fire of the team as his own. Kai was able to calm the ranting female down and hugged. Soon Jay and Nya came down. Nya jumped onto Kai and almost cutting off his connection with air. Jay tried to get her off to help his friend breathe but Nya was holding on too tight, trying to release all the fear and sadness she kept inside and releasing it out in the hug. She was now the ranting female worried for her only brother. She even scolded him, not realizing that Kai stopped moving. Cole and Zane ran over to help Jay. Nya finally got off him realizing she squeezed him to much during the hug and Cole shook him to wake up.

The others laugh and Lloyd was angry that the others ruined his sleep. He quickly went from angry to confused seeing Nya and Cole trying to wake Kai up while the others laugh. Lloyd smiled then. Knowing that his big brother was finally awake and moving.

You won't be able to burn bright forever young flame... Don't think you broke free... I AM MORE POWERFUL THAN ALL OF YOU!!!
