Chapter 14 ~ Hope for the Flame to burn

Third Person POV:

"It's quite beautiful, isn't it?" Kugutsu chuckled the ninja as they were stared in complete shock. Practically, their friend destroyed an entire section of a palace with a giant blast of clean white fire. "What....?" The green ninja asked. Nya growled in anger and stepped up, "You bastard!! What did you do to my brother?!" Jay quickly grabs Nya's arm, not letting her go too far from him, fearing what would happen if he didn't. The man of the strings only chuckled at her anger. "Answer her question, you damn bastard!" Cole began to grow angry too. Kugutsu's smile faded instantly and humphed, "Oh come now, there's no need to ruin such a perfect mood. But if that's what you want then that's what you want..." Kugutsu raised his right hand and the possessed Kai started to followed his moves. "Your little friend here has quite a past... Being abandoned by his parents, leaving him to care for his sister more than himself. And he was so young... Younger than how old your green ninja was when he was forced to grow up..." Lloyd's eyes widened in fear. This puppet master new somehow knew about Kai's past. What else is that he never thought about the age Kai was when he had to raise Nya. If anything, he had a worse childhood than he did. At least Lloyd had Kai to watch over him before being the green ninja, until now. Lloyd's shock was seen by Kugutsu and grinned. He manipulated Clouse and use his dark magic to trap Lloyd in thick vines.

"Lloyd!!" Zane shouted. He and Jay tried to free him. Lloyd finally snapped out of his thoughts and struggled to break free from the vines grip. "Let him go.. You stupid vines!!" Jay grunted as the vines slowly crept up to Lloyd's neck. "And how many times has he tried everything to protect and raise you, Ms. Nya? All you've ever done was help him with very few... The only time you sacrificed yourself for your lover and him only. And when they gathered together after a long while, he acted like he was the only who was affected by your 'death'. You didn't say goodbye to him and your love didn't even let this fire boy have a chance to..." Jay and Nya then froze. They tried not to fall for his tricks but he wasn't wrong. Nya never said goodbye to Kai. Only Jay. She regretted not saying goodbye to him. As for Jay, he too regretted acting like such a fool then. He knew the others missed Nya but he always felt like he had it worse. When in reality it's been Kai. Nya was his only family for years before saving his parents from the time twins. He was in more pain than anybody. Vines soon trapped both, Nya and Jay. Snapping them out of their thoughts of regrets. "Nya! Jay!" Cole shouted in worry. Zane tried to freeze the vines and shatter them, except the vines just absorbed the ice. Cole tried to use his strength to snap the vines apart, though they were too thick to bother.

"Gah!! Would you just get out of our heads?!" Nya demanded as she struggled with the grasp of the vines. Kugutsu's smile grew wider and wider, "But you wanted to know what I have done to him. And I'm telling you that I have done nothing. I merely just twisted his mind and replay the dark memories he has. It was surprising how he fell into the darkness of his own memories so easily."

Zane and Cole were loosing too much of their energy from using too much of their powers trying to break the others free. The floor shook and the two male Ninja's stumbled, luckily they did not fall. The ninja looked to see what the cause was and found it was the movements of the Stone Soldiers, slowly getting closer. Keeping them in a small space. They soon stopped, shaking the ground in the process. "There's no need to fight anymore... You've already lost ninja..." The puppet master said to them in a dark yet cheerful tone as he walks down the steps to the same level as the rest. "No!! We refuse to accept defeat!" Zane argued. "We will never give up on Kai! He's been there for me more times that I could even count! And I have to repay him for everything he's done for me!!" Lloyd shouted, tears were burning his eyes as they slowly fell and slid down his cheeks. Nya chocked on sob that no one seemed to hear and yelled, "Kai! I know I haven't done much to help you! But let me make up for it! Let me make up for all you've done! For raising me! For being there for me! For everything!! Just please! SNAP OUT OF IT!!!"
