I was walking along the pavement, the street busy with traffic everywhere you looked. My feet led me into a port, labeled as:

'Sir Luke Strett M.B., M.R.C.S. Consultant Radiologist'

'British institute of radiology LONDON'

The institution had kept me busy these past months, keeping my mind sharp that is. Kate having had a few letters secretly sent to lighten up my mood. I entered the library, looking at the familiar spines.. until I heard a faint whispering..

"Ppsssst"

I turned my head, letting my eyes set on the one person I had a hard time to forget.

"Kate?"

She smiled faintly, her face only visible through the missing books of a shelf.

"I saw you from the bus.. almost thought you were running away from me.."

Running away? How could I ever run from her? If anything she'd been forced to do the running.

"Not at all.. I-I didn't see you."

Her eyebrows rose, yet she seemed to let the surprise go. She moved from behind the shelf and rounded the corner, letting her whole figure into my sight.

"Who were you with just now?"

It was now my turn for my eyebrows to shoot up, had she been following me?

"Oh, just some friends."

She had been keeping her own friends lately.. a certain woman whom she kept closer than I'd liked.. Millie, 'the charming one' people called her.

A mere nod was given before she looked around. It was almost as if she was trying to look inconspicuous, non-suspicious that is. Then she moved, ushering me to follow her... I know I shouldn't, but I am.

It had hurt to hear of this new friendship from a certain few people, and not from Kate herself, but I figured I'd meet her eventually..

A few gentlemen passed us and then she stopped at a bookshelf I'd never been at before, pulling out a book. She opened it, the pages filled with people, undressed people.. in rather suggestive positions..

She began giggling as she flipped the pages again, once stopping at a page of two women enjoying each other in more.. personal ways..

Her eyes found mine, searching for any sign of disgust against the idea, but I couldn't help the butterflies in my stomach.. I wanted that..

"I would've kicked you out myself if I'd been there."

Ah great, the minion Kate's aunt hired to keep an eye on her was now instead lecturing her on what and what not to do. Lord Marc, the scumbag himself..

(Watch out for him in later chapters dears!)

"That part of the bookshop is meant for men, you see."

Kate's eyes drifted over him with a small eye roll.

"Why?"

I had answered his obviously sexist remark, knowing it'd become an interesting subject to talk about.
