"Uncle Chris!' Rose ran up to Chris. Chris spread his arms and the girl hugged him. Chris lifted her up and Rose hugged him. 'I missed you.' She said. She held Chris tightly. 'I missed you too. Where's your little brother?' Chris asked.
'Here! Chris looked to the side and he now noticed Scarlett. In her arms was Cosmo, her little son who was almost one year old. 'Hey Scar.' Chris smiled when he saw his best friend. Chris and Scarlett had been friends for years. Chris was twenty when he met her on the movie set of The perfect score.
Chris set Rose down on the floor. 'Good to see you again.' He patted Scarlett on the back and then turned to Cosmo. 'Ha, big boy.' He stroked Cosmo's cheek. 'I can't believe he's almost one year old already.' Said Scarlett, 'Neither can I. Time goes by so fast. Before you know it they've graduated.' Chris chuckled.
'Chris, shall we play a game in a minute?' Rose tugged impatiently at Chris's arm. 'Rose, be careful. I think Chris wants a drink first.' Said Scarlett. Rose let go of Chris. 'Okay.' She sighed.
They all walked into the house and in the kitchen Chris found Colin. Colin and Scarlett had been in a relationship for five years now and last year their baby son Cosmo was born. Rose was from a previous relationship of Scarlett's but Colin saw Rose as his own daughter. He adored the two children and he also got along well with Chris. The men regularly went out together.
"Hey Chris, what's up? Colin asked. 'Well fine though. I must say I'm beginning to like New York more and more. I went to see some cultural places today and it's really beautiful here. Told Chris. 'You've been living in New York for over seven months and you've only just started visiting the cultural sites?' Scarlett looked at him open-mouthed.
'Hey, I'm an actor. I don't have much time for that kind of thing.' Chris defended himself. 'Tell me about it.' Replied Scarlett, laughing. 'Uncle Chris, shall we play a game now?' With puppy dog eyes Rose looked at him and Chris couldn't bring himself to say no. 'Onwards then. Go and get a game.' Said Chris. 'Yay! A big smile appeared on Rose's face and she ran out of the kitchen.
'She really loves you Chris.' Smiled Scarlett, 'I love her too. She grows up so fast.' Said Chris. 'You can say that again. Just like this little guy.' Scarlett looked at Cosmo. 'Ah Cosmo. Come is here with your Uncle Chris.' Chris took the baby from Scarlett and he began to tickle the baby. Cosmo laughed.
'Hey, I'm going to take off. I've got a meeting in a minute.' Said Colin. 'Is good. Good luck.' Scarlett gave her husband a kiss. 'Chris, I'll see you around!' He raised his hand to Chris. 'Bye Cosmo.' He gave his little son a kiss and a pat on the head. 'Bye! Good luck.' Chris wished him. 'Thank you.' Colin also said a quick goodbye to Rose and then he left in the direction of work.
'I found three games we can play.' Rose walked into the kitchen with three board games. She put the games on the table. 'Which one do you want to do first?' Questioningly, she looked at Chris. Chris looked at the games. 'Uno I always like.' He said. 'Okay.' Rose grabbed the packet and she pulled out the cards. Meanwhile, Scarlett made everyone something to drink and conjured up the cookie jar.
It was a pleasant afternoon. Chris, Scarlett and Rose played a lot of games and they had the most fun together. Cosmo had fallen asleep and didn't notice anything of the pleasant atmosphere. After the umpteenth game Chris and Scarlett had had enough and decided to clean up.
Rose was allowed by Scarlett to turn on the television so the girl went to the living room to watch a movie. Rose had been watching so much television lately that Scarlett put a limit on it from now on. Each day the girl was allowed to watch one hour of television. The rest of the day she had to entertain herself with toys, games or outside.
"Would you like another drink? Scarlett got up from her chair and she walked over to the counter. 'No thanks.' Chris replied. Scarlett poured herself a cup of coffee and she sat back down. 'Do you like it in New York a bit?' She asked him. 'Yeah. It's just still getting used to.' He admitted. 'I understand. New York is also very different from Los Angeles. You'll get used to it. She reassured him.
'Scar, can I ask you something?' Uncertainly he looked at his best friend. 'Of course. What is it? Scarlett asked, 'Do you think Jane and Maeve are still alive?' His sentence was almost unintelligible but Scarlett had heard it anyway. She pushed her chair a little closer to Chris and she grabbed his hand. "Do you believe in it? Questioningly she looked at him. Chris nodded slowly. 'I think so.'
'That's the most important thing of all. I know it's hard for you to watch Rose and Cosmo grow up but I promise you we'll always keep looking for Jane and Maeve. Maybe we can make it into the news again?' Suggested Scarlett. 'Yes, we can.' Replied Chris. It didn't sound very enthusiastic. 'Come on, Chris. Don't give up. We'll just keep looking until we find them.
