The Warnings

Lumine woke up that morning to an empty space in the bed she had shared last night. She rubbed her eyes and checked her surroundings, only to realize she was alone with Paimon. Ugh, where did he run off to this time? She faced the little fairy that was stationed right in front of her, waiting with her arms crossed and frowned eyebrows.

"You have some explaining to do, Traveler. Paimon is smart enough to understand something happened between you too." She said in a motherly voice.

Lumine blushed and a small smile appeared on her lips. She could still imagine his taste and feel his last kiss on her mouth. She would have wanted to wake up in his arms that morning and share another moment of intimacy, but it seems he had other plans in mind.

She bit her lower lip and explained the general details of what was said and done between the two of them. She found herself the wiser to keep the secrets they had shared to herself.

As she explained the situation, she couldn't help but feel a certain void caused by the lack of his presence. Once again, she felt like they had parted ways without closure. She obviously hoped he would come back soon, but the nervous pit in her stomach only grew worse as time passed. She started to resent him for leaving her alone yet again, and couldn't help but feel the heat of anger rise to her head. He's such a prick when he wants to. She laid back on the bed and spread her arms to her sides. She felt a paper sticking out from her pillows and pulled it out of its hiding place. He has a habit of gifting me notes under pillows, that's for sure.
She read the note aloud to satisfy her companion's curiosity.

I have to leave for an important meeting. I didn't want to wake you up and you looked cute with all that drool on your face. Anyway, see you later, little sun.  -Ajax

She blushed as she read the note, clinging to the new nickname he had given her.  Paimon couldn't help but smile herself. As cute as the note was thought, she was still mad that he couldn't have taken the time to wake her up and say it in her face.

"Paimon didn't even see him leave this morning, although Paimon did wake up just a short while before you soooo." The pixie said as she crossed her arms behind her back.

She didn't answer and sat back up on the bed to ponder.

"Paimon will go get Barbera now. Maybe get you out of this place, feel the fresh air and sunshine and get ourselves a treat?"

"Sure, but you need to find me a dress or something other than this piece of see-through cloth before I can walk out that door in public."

Paimon nodded her head and headed out to find Jean's sister.
Lumine would have preferred to have passed the day with Ajax, as she still had so many things they needed to say to each other. Of course, she was pleased that they had finally admitted that they had feelings for each other, but a bitter taste still lingered about the chances of their relationship being fathomable. She was the world-renowned traveler known to have stopped multiple fatui coups. He was.. well... a fatui. Harbinger nonetheless. He was mortal with a knack for deadly situations and a life-consuming delusion, and she was already thousands of years old, her body unchangeable and eternal. She would stay forever like this while he would grow older, and she also didn't know where her life would lead her after her journey. Uncertainties, are terribly troublesome for the heart and the mind.
Her train of thought came to an end as Barbera walked into the room with her usual white dress folded into her arms along with medical supplies.

"Here you go, sweetheart. I got out all the stains and patched up the holes. It's better than brand new. I've spoken with Paimon, and if lord Barbatos has answered my prayers, your wounds should be healing nicely. If everything looks good under the dressings I'll give you your leave and Paimon will be able to redo your dressings by watching me today."
