The Sunset Watcher

The sun had set over the city of Liuye and the sky was seamlessly painted with pinks and purples. Lumine had just sat down to observe the fresco of colours in the fresh grass. Paimon had already started devouring the delicious mushroom pizza Lumine had prepared as an evening picnic for the two friends. Thankfully she had packed an extra as Paimon had already finished the whole thing before Lumine had a chance to taste her concoction.

They sat in silence. Paimon lay down in a food coma while Lumine was stuck in her thoughts about her future. She rarely had time to ponder about these kinds of things, as her main goal of the past few months related to finding her brother and helping out friends along the way. She thought about the abyss order and her brother working with them for Gods know what reasons. How long would she stay in Teyvat? Would she end up starting a family here? She liked the people here, the views, her friends, and her elemental powers in this world, if she left one day what would come next? She wasn't even sure she wanted to go to the next world even after finding the God who landed her here. She took out her satchel and looked at the new letter she had gotten this week.

The front of the envelope read
From: Your dear friend Tartaglia

The back was written in the same cursive letters and could read
To: The most admirable babysitter to my brother, and my dear friend

She couldn't help but smirk at the thought of Teucer forcing his brother to write that down. She opened the letter with the tip of her sword and carefully read his words.

《Hey comrade, you didn't answer my last letter to you, maybe you forgot? Haha! A busy adventurer like you must have been too preoccupied with killing monsters to have even opened my last letter. I'm still in Snezhnaya for a couple of days before I come back to Liyue on business, maybe we can catch up, and have an amicable spar like our last "date"? I'm very confident I will win this time Lumine! Very hopeful to see you, Teucer and the family sends you regards, as do I, dear friend. 》

The letter came accompanied by a single dried snapdragon flower, and the smell of Childe filled Lumine's nose for a brief second. Although she was very grateful and feeling... almost like she could float after reading his letter, she couldn't help but feel angst towards her natural fatui enemy. They had spent a wonderful evening the last time they were together, she still blushed at the thought of that night, but after her last encounter with two harbingers nonetheless, she couldn't feel at ease knowing Childe was still affiliated with the likes of them.

She packed the letter delicately and promised herself she would make an effort to go see the Ginger boy when he would arrive. For now, she decided to meditate on the wind in the trees and the sound of children laughing in the city. The traveler looked at Paimon who was snacking on a mochi skewer from Inazuma while she took a bite of her amazing cooking. She couldn't have felt more peaceful at that moment.
