Chapter 10

Dustin's P.O.V
"EDDIE!!" I cried out, the others beside me tried to restrain me so I didn't do anything stupid but I resisted. I couldn't lose Eddie again, never again, I couldn't stand to see him die in front of me again! I became a wolf and howled into the sky, my raw emotions carried into the wind, tears fell down my muzzle. I saw the basketball team assholes staring at me, pointing their weapons towards me, I growled in utter hatred towards them all. "I told you! All of them must have powers of Satan! This one must be their guard dog from hell!" Andy spat. I continued to growl at them, I hated being called a hell hound, I couldn't let them hurt Eddie more. So I did the only thing I could do until Steve got here. I charged. They swung their weapons at me but I dodged them, I knocked them all to the ground and found where Eddie had passed out, the wound where the stake had been started to sizzle, I whimpered in fear.

His eyes were closed but he was still shifted. I gently lifted him onto my back. I reached the others and signalled them to hop on. "Thanks Dustin, we can try and keep Eddie stable while you run, we need to get him to Steve and fast." Will said. I nodded and started to run. As I ran I heard the angry cries of the douchbags behind me, they were trying to catch me, haven't they done enough damage?! "DUSTIN RUN FASTER! THEIR COMING!" Lucas exclaimed, I nodded vigorously and started to pick up the pace, my paws pounding the ground. As I was running I felt a sharp pain in my side, I let out a pained whimper and fell to the ground. I accidentally shifted back into myself, fully clothed thank god, and I saw as the others tumbled over. A knife stuck out of my thigh. "DUSTIN!" Mike cried, he tried to come and help me but I stopped him, I didn't want anyone else to get hurt. "NO! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER! YOU GUYS GO HIDE! I don't want anyone else hurt!" I demanded. Mike stopped in his tracks, he looked back and saw the team fast approaching, he looked back to me and nodded. They all lifted Eddie's unconscious body and hid behind the nearest tree. I stood up slowly, I ripped the knife from my thigh, I let out a pained cry. I then watched in amazement as the wound closed over and the scar didn't stay either. It looked like normal, I laughed lightly. But that soon got interrupted by the basketball douchebags coming.

"Stay down doggy, it's time we put you out of your misery." Andy said menacingly. I was terrified, they could try to kill me, but then I remembered that I was also a vampire. I could try to do Eddie's hypnosis trick! I concentrated hard, and I stared at the team. "You will forget who you are, you will forget this ever happened, who everyone around you is and leave this town with your families for good." I said as confidently as I could. I waited for their eyes to gloss over and repeat what I said in anticipation but instead they laughed at me. "What was that pathetic chant? If that was one of your demonic spells it's not gonna work!" Chance said taunting me. He pinned me to the ground with his foot, I tried to push his foot off of my chest but he wouldn't move. Andy and Chance bent down to my level. "Andy I forget, how many bones are there in the human body?" He said sarcastically. I struggled, I had to get out of here! Then Andy grabbed a hammer, I struggled harder. "I don't know Chance, let's count!" Andy replied, malice lacing his words, I closed my eyes in anticipation but instead I heard a whack out of nowhere. I opened my eyes to see Andy on the ground holding his face, then I looked up with happiness in my eyes, I saw Steve holding his wrist and his hand in a fist. "That's one." He said confidently.

The rest of the team joined Chance and andy in their daze. "Thanks for calling me Dustin, is everything ok?" I violently shook my head. "No, those assholes stabbed Eddie with a garlic covered wooden stake and he's not doing well, he's over there with the others. I'll take care of these assholes, you take Eddie to your house and I'll meet you there!" I quickly said. His eyes widened, sadness filled them, then rage. "No. I'll stay and help you fend them off. We can help Eds after these bastards are taken care of." He explained. He then roared an inhuman roar to the team, his werewolf appearance showing, ears pointed, nails became claws, his fluffy tail sprouting, fangs grew and his eyes glowing yellow. I followed in his example. I felt my fangs and claws growing, my two tails sprouted from my lower back, my ears pointed and I willed my wings out. A yellow lens on my right eye and a red lens on my left eye. We slowly made our way towards the team. "Your both monsters! We will have to kill the both of you." Andy said coldly. Steve looked to me. "Do you think you can try to hypnotise them again?" He pleaded. I sighed in defeat. "I can try!" I said confidently. I closed my eyes and focused, I had to save Eddie and help Steve, I said what I told them before and this time it successfully worked! Their eyes glossed over and repeated what I said and walked away.

I laughed in triumph, it actually worked! "Steve I did it! Now let's go help Eddie." I said determined. Steve smiled at me then nodded in agreement. He transformed and picked up Eddie and took off to his house, I shifted into a wolf too and carried the other boys on my back. Once back to Steve's house Steve immediately set to work. Eddie was still unconscious as Steve worked, he cleaned all the garlic out of the wound and it slowly stopped sizzling and started to heal over. Eddie's eyes fluttered open, their red colour shined. "St-Stevie? Henderson? Are you guys ok?" He said softly. I nodded my head, tears filling my vision. I hugged him tight. "I thought I lost you! I couldn't stand to see you die in front of me again!" I said in between sobs. Eddie softly smiled and hugged me back, I got off him and Steve pulled him into a kiss, then he scolded Eddie for not calling him sooner. Eddie just shrugged and kissed him again. "I think we should go, it's getting really late and it's another school night." Mike said. Steve and Eddie pulled away from the embrace and nodded. "Yeah, you too Henderson, we can't have your mother having another panic attack at the thought of you missing." Eddie said sincerely. We all nodded, said our goodbyes and took off.

When I got home I saw my mom waiting for me in the living room. "Mom I didn't mean to take a little longer, Eddie's campaign went longer than expected." I said quickly making an excuse. "Oh that's ok dusty, as long as your ok." She said. I smiled and said goodnight to her. I lied down on my bed and instantly fell asleep. But not even 4 hours into my sleep I was immediately woken up by the sound of a clock. Shit! I saw a clock embedded on the wall, this must be Vecna. I started to panic, I didn't want Vecna to come get me now, I didn't want him to come at all! I ran from my bed and saw vines everywhere, this could only mean one thing, I was in the fucking upside down. And no one would be able to find me. I started screaming for help, I ran outside and the sky was red, further cementing the fact I was in the upside down. How did I even get here?! Then a voice echoed the answer, a voice I never wanted to hear in my entire life, it was Vecna.

"I summoned you here Dustin. Through your dreams I have dragged you here, you are not asleep or under my curse, you are here physically." He said darkly. I started to hyperventilate. "No no no, I will not obey you! I won't become your killing warrior asshole! My friends will find me!" I said confidently. He only laughed coldly. "Not unless I hide you Dustin, I will hide you away from them until you obey, and join me." He said menacingly. I couldn't believe this, I had to get out of here, I ran on the vine covered ground, my feet were cold against the ground, but I found out a chilling realisation. All of the gates were closed. My friends won't find me because they can't even get to me.
