After explaining to his recently rescued colleagues about the situation, Brad bid them all farewell as he ventured back into that haunted mansion. He made his way down the halls, whistling a happy tune and feeling chipper as ever, having defeated another boss ghost!
"So according to the watch, this green key I found goes to the door at the end of this hall." He said, holding the aforementioned key in his gloved hand.
Brad walked to that door and held the key close to it. This caused the thorns covering it to pulsate like before until they disintegrated into ashes. He took a deep breath and said to himself:
"Let's see what's beyond this door. Whatever it is, I'll try my best to take that threat down!"
He slid the key into its keyhole and unlocked the door. He then turned the doorknob and went outside, now entering the Courtyard. He noticed that it did look pretty lavish with a fountain, a well, a birdhouse, among other things.
"Wait, is something sticking out of that hole in the birdhouse?" Brad asked, looking at a rolled up, white item peeking out.
He walked over to it, vacuuming up any ghosts that crossed his path along the way. Upon looking at this item, he realized it was a letter from Dave and Rachel! He placed it in his pocket to read later, wanting to deal with the ghosts running around the area. After they were all gone, the light poles shined brightly and another treasure chest appeared. Inside was loads of cash, coins and gold, which our titular friend quickly stashed away in his other pocket.
"Ok, now to see if anything's in that well." Brad said, eyeing said well.
He began his descent by climbing down a ladder until he was at the bottom of the well. To his right was a single path to follow, leading to an opening too small for Brad to fully get through, but just large enough for his head to go through. On the other side of this opening was some kind of shrine room, twinkling with a gold shimmer. It was then that Brad saw something terrifying...he saw those two ghosts with crowns he freed earlier floating in front of two paintings with gold frames. And even worse, Dave and Rachel were trapped inside them! They banged against the portraits, completely helpless.
"Let us outta hereeeeeeeeee!" Dave hollered.
"It's so tight in here, that I can barely move!!!" Rachel shouted.
The ghost wearing the crown with the red ruby on top merely cackled at them, saying:
"You're not going anywhere, you fools!!!"
"Dave...Rachel..." Brad whispered, tears starting to leak from his eyes as he reached his hand out, but could do nothing and just witness the horrible events before him.
Brad reluctantly pulled himself away from this nightmarish sight and slowly began to walk back to the ladder, before noticing a ghost that dropped down, laughing hysterically. He sluggishly went over and took care of it in a matter of seconds. As he made his way back up, he couldn't stop thinking about his big brother and sister, clearly suffering in those paintings. Would they be ok? What was gonna happen to them? What did those two ghosts have planned for them? There were so many questions racing through Brad's head, but he sadly couldn't answer any of them. Although, he made one thing perfectly clear.
"I'm gonna save you, guys...no matter what it takes." Brad whispered to himself, wiping some tears away.
