This will be in Steve's POV

Steve heard his alarm. Sadly, Larry already left for work, but Steve knew he had to. Steve got up and started to get ready for work. He changed into his usual rainbow shirt, his black jeans and his favorite sandals. He put his hair into a pony tail and went to eat breakfast. He saw a note on the fridge that had neat writing. He read it and slowly frowned.

Hey Steve! I'll be working really late tonight. Like, I'll be there pretty much 24 hours straight. Sorry I won't be back for dinner babe.

Steve was disappointed his boyfriend wouldn't be home, but got over it as he ate his breakfast. Once finished, he left his apartment and left the building, getting in his van and driving to the school. He went to the teachers lounge to make his tea, already dreading going home to no Larry. Once the water was hot enough, he poured it into his flower mug, putting a tea bag in it and walking to his office. He started to do some work before hearing knocking at his office door. "Yeah?" Steve said, looking at principal Brown, leading Gumball and Darwin into his office. "They say they're being bullied and won't elaborate" Nigel said, closing the doors. "Really? Again?" Steve said, looking at them with a sad expression. "uhhhh" Gumball started before Darwin finished for him. "Gumball lied and said that we were being bullied because he wanted to ask you why you kiss other guys which I told him is VERY RUDE, but he wouldn't listen" Darwin said, sitting down. Gumball sighed. "I wanted to know the appeal of other men". Steve sighed and almost hit his head on the desk. "Because some people like girls, some people like boys, some people like both, and some people like neither" "yeah but why Larry" "Gumball that's rude!" "chill out dude I was just asking a question". Steve took a sip of his tea. He really didn't want to explain to middle schoolers why he was in a relationship. "Because I like Larry and Larry likes me" he said, looking at both boys. Darwin was looking at him like had just told him the best news ever, while Gumball looked at him with a confused expression. "Are you and Larry gonna have babies" Darwin said. Steve's face changed to surprised and embarrassed. "Ok I think that's enough, goodbye now boys, you should probably be getting to class now" he pushed them out of his office.

4 HOURS LATER

Steve was walking around the hall until he saw something on the billboard. He backed up to look at it, and his face went a light pink as he saw an anime style drawing of him and Larry holding hands, the name "Sarah" signed on the corner. He took it down and started walking to principal Browns office. "Uh, Nigel?" he asked, opening the door. "oh, hello Steve. What is it?" "Do you mind calling Sarah to the office?" Steve said as he put the drawing on the desk. "Oh, of course" Nigel said as he looked over the drawing "Are the two of you actually together?" he asked. Steve looked at him with a straight face. "I'm taking that as a maybe" Nigel said, turning his intercom on. "Can Sarah please come to Principal Browns office" he said into the mic. Sarah came in moments later. "Mr Small wanted to talk to you about something" "Is it about the drawing" Sarah smiled. "I knew you would like it Mr Small! Darwin told me about how you and Larry were in love so I made that drawing to put up in the hall" Steve fake coughed, trying to hide his face. "It's great, Sarah, just maybe don't put anymore up" Steve lied. He was very embarrassed about having a child admit for him that he was in a gay relationship. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Steve wasn't straight, but none of his co-workers knew on account of most workplaces in Elmore being iffy about LGBTQ+ rights. "Oh, ok mr Small!" Sarah said as she left and walked back to class. "congratulations, Small" Nigel said, taking a sip of coffee. "Thank you" Steve said quickly before leaving and walking back to his office. Thank god he was in a good enviorment but just goddamnit watterson. He took a sip of his tea and checked his phone. He saw a message from Larry. He quickly clicked it and read it.

Larry-so apparently I'm not working late, i'll be here like 4 more hours. Can you get me after my shift?
S

teve-yeah, of course ♥ but how come you aren't working late anymore?
Larry-I'll tell you in person
Steve-ok sunshine! Love you :)

Steve was mildly worried about Larry. He already knew what it probably was though. Larry was getting fired from all his jobs slowly. They started finding replacements for him, and Larry had slowly been seeming more tired, or just more relaxed. Either way,  Steve felt bad that Larry was losing his jobs, but was trying to look at the brightside. At least now Larry had less jobs and could relax more. Thats good, right? At least Steve would get more time with Larry.
