"...and that's why you should hire me" Larry said, looking at Mr. Brown. "Well, your resume is quite convincing, and I've been getting suggestions, so I think I'll have to give you the job, Mr. Needlemeyer" Mr. Brown said while reaching out his hand. "Oh, thank you so much!" Larry said, shaking it. Larry walked out of the room and was instantly greeted by Steve looking at him with a massive smile. "Let's get to Janice before you start celebrating so you don't embarrass yourself" Larry said, taking Steve's hand and walking him out of the building. As they got into the van, Larry said "I got the job". Steve started yelling in celebration and hugging Larry. "Babe, it's not that much of a deal. I'm gonna be working as a school janitor" "With me! I can see you whenever I want!" "You have a job to do too, Steve" "My job is less important than you~". Steve kissed Larry quickly on the lips before starting the car and driving down the road. "Y'know, for someone in their 40s, you act like a teenager sometimes" Larry said, smiling at Steve. "Age is a concept of the mind. Just like pain!" Steve said, glancing at him for a moment before focusing back on the road. "I worry about you sometimes, babe" "I don't. I'm just living my truth" Steve said while smiling. "Whatcha wanna eat for lunch?" Larry asked. "I was planning on making coleslaw" "Sounds good to me". The rest of the ride home was silent, but in a good way. Once they got back, Larry leaned on the counter while watching Steve work. "See something you like, Sunshine?" Steve asked, looking behind him to see Larry staring at him with a small blush on his face. "Oh! Uh-" Larry started, but was cut off by Steve grabbing his face. "Weren't you ever taught that staring was rude?" Steve said, smiling playfully. Larry just stopped talking. Steve kissed him before going back to the meal he was making. Larry buried his face in his arms, becoming a blushing mess. Even though he acted immune to it, he was extremely vulnerable to Steve's flirts. He would always become flustered quickly. "Lunch is served" Steve said, placing a bowl in front of him. "I was thinking, I've been saving some money for a while, do you want to go furniture shopping?" Steve asked. "Oh, yeah, sure" Larry said, still blushing but not flustered enough to need to hide his face. "You get worked up so easily, I could just tell you that I loved you and you'd start freaking out" Steve said, smiling sweetly at Larry. "It's adorable" Steve added, chuckling as Larry hid his face again.
A WEEK LATER: MONDAY
It was Larry's first day at his new job, and was just trying to stay calm while cleaning the floor. It was around a class time, so he was alone, except for the occasional student using the bathroom or a teacher going to get something. Starting a new job was stressful for Larry. He had the same ones for years, Not to mention the social anxiety of having new co workers and being in a completely different setting. He tried to calm down, but all he could think about was the new job. He tried to shift his thoughts to something else, so he started looking around, and then he saw a door with a small rainbow sticker on it, alongside peace signs and an illuminati sticker. Larry knew that had to be Steve's office. His thoughts shift from being stressed to being calm. He continued cleaning while daydreaming about his boyfriend. His thoughts were then interrupted by Gumball and Darwin. "Larry why are you at our school" Gumball said, looking confused. "I got a new job" Larry said quickly, getting up. Darwin looked like he was putting something together in his head. Then his face lit up. "Gumball I have an idea" he said, turning to his brother. He whispered something to him. "Ok I'll go get him" Gumball said while running off. "Where is he going?" Larry said, not really caring but still curious. "He's getting Mr. Small so he can see that you work here now" Darwin said, looking at Larry with wide eyes. "Uh, well actually-" Larry started before stopping, hearing Steve. "Gumball I swear if this is another popsicle statue colored rainbow, I appreciate your creativity but I really don't need-" Steve said, before looking at Larry. "Mr. Small, look! Your boyfriend works here now!" Darwin said, grabbing his hand and dragging him towards Larry. Larry quickly whispered to Steve that they didn't know that Steve had told him about the job. They decided to just play it off like this was a surprise. "Oh Larry, what a surprise, great to see you" Steve said, awkwardly smiling. Darwin just stared at them smiling. "You guys should kiss" Darwin said, looking like he was about to explode. Steve and Larry just looked at each other. "I don't think that would be-" "Please Larry" Darwin said, looking at him with puppy eyes. "He won't leave us alone if we don't, Larry" Steve whispered, smiling. "Fine" Larry said. Steve quickly kiss him on the lips and then walked back to his office. "Now leave me alone" Larry said, shooing off Gumball and Darwin. He continued his daydreaming and cleaning.
6 HOURS LATER
"So Larry, how was your first day?" Steve asked while driving back to the apartment. "I hate kids so much" Larry said, his head in his hands. He wasn't crying, just stressed. "Come on, Sunshine, I'm sure you'll warm up to them" Steve said in a comforting voice. He took one hand off the wheel and placed it on Larry's thigh. "I just wish they left me alone" Larry said, leaning back into the seat. "They're just curious, hon. They don't mean to upset you" Steve said, starting to rub Larry's thigh. "I know, I just wish they wouldn't even notice me" Larry said, smiling slightly at the affection. "Well, I don't know how anyone couldn't notice someone as amazing as you" Steve said, stopping the van in a parking spot and kissing Larry on the cheek. "Now come on, You're gonna help me make dinner" Steve said, getting out of Janice.
