"DADS, WE'RE GONNA BE LATE IF YOU DON'T HURRY" Rob yelled from downstairs. He never really had to change his clothes, or brush his teeth, or really anything to get ready, so he was always the first one to be at the door. "I'm coming! Steve is taking his sweet ass time trying to decide what shade of red he wants for his hair tie" Larry said, almost falling down the stairs and sprinting over to Rob. "I heard that! I need the right shade to match my shirt or it'll ruin the whole outfit!" Steve yelled from the bathroom. It was muffled a bit, but clear enough for Rob and Larry to hear. "There, I found it. Now we can go" Steve said, walking down the stairs. "Then come on!" Larry said, running over and grabbing Steve's arm, pulling him out the door. Rob locked it behind them and started following his parents to Janice. He found it hilarious that Steve had named the van Janice, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to hurt his feelings. "Fine, fine. Larry are you driving or am I?" Steve said fumbling to look for his keys in his pocket. "I'll drive. Get in, Rob" Larry said, taking his keys and unlocking Janice. "Okay" Rob said, sitting down in the backseat of the van. Steve got in the front seat and made sure everyone had their seatbelts on before letting Larry start driving. He would always start yelling if they didn't all check if their seatbelts were on. Rob looked at the floor of Janice. It was fairly clean, just a bit of food and trash shoved under seats or just laying there, but nothing too bad. He looked at the ceiling. Steve had put stickers and put a few blankets up. He never wanted things to look empty. He was always going around the house and trying to put things where there wasn't room. He was constantly asking Rob if he could put some of his decorations in his room, but Rob wouldn't allow it. He enjoyed having his own space, and refused to let his dad start putting rainbow tapestries and Illuminati posters all over his walls and ceiling. Rob looked at his parents, in the front seat. Steve had put his arm around Larry and was humming softly, and Larry had leaned into him as much as he could while driving. Rob didn't say anything. He knew both his dad's were really fucked up and definitely needed stuff like that all the time. Steve and Larry usually forget Rob can still hear them if they're just in the kitchen or on the couch while Rob is in his room. Rob's room had thin walls towards the stairs, and he was the closest room to the stairs. He would also pace around the hall on the second floor, just thinking. He would hear Steve and Larry talk about their past, and it was a bit depressing. They were both really deprived of any sort of attention as kids, especially Steve, that's probably why he was so touchy. Rob understood why his parents needed to be close to each other, even if it got embarrassing in public. He did enjoy making jokes about it though. "You lovebirds couldn't spend 5 minutes away from each other" Rob said, smiling. "That's probably true" Larry said, glancing over at Steve who was as close as he could be to Larry without being a safety hazard. Once they arrived, Larry pulled open the door for Rob while Steve got up and walked to Larry's side, grabbing his arm. Rob just snickered at it and followed his parents into the building. Once inside, he was about to run to his class before Steve hugged him tightly. Larry had also been caught in one of his inescapable surprise group hugs. Steve never ended his hugs until everyone had hugged back. Larry was always the first to hug back, but Rob had observed he was always reluctant with it, hesitating when moving his arms over certain spots. Rob would quickly hug Steve, just long enough to be released. They did their daily routine of hugging, Rob ran to his first classroom so he could be the first one, like always. Being the teacher's kid had its perks. Like having his grades lifted just a bit when he was failing due to stress, because his parents knew what was happening and knew what he was capable of, or getting to class first so he had time to finish up on studying or doing homework. That was really it, though. Still, a couple perks were better than no perks. He took out his homework and started checking it.
